Do you think $5/gallon gas would help erode Trump's base below 30%?
Part of me is hoping gas reaches $5 this summer, because IMO I think that will significantly erode his base. But then again I know $5 gas will really hurt a lot of people as well as the overall economy.
Absurd. DUmmies and economics are not in the same solar system.
Now, the money shot:

3. No. His base operates on emotions not logic.
His base conflates race with class. These are people who feel that they are in a higher class simply because they're White, but every day reality is showing them that they're in a lower economic class and they cannot reconcile this in their minds. Hence, they support Trump because he's telling them that they're in a higher class simply because of their race.

10. This type of wish is like
Sarandon saying Trump will bring the revolution.
Does no one in this damn country give a shit about the poor, old, sick, working class living paycheck to paycheck?
****...
Leftists care about one thing--getting their grubby mitts on the levers of power.

I am trying to parse this word salad.
y4 thinks people think they are rich b/c they are white? And somehow President is where they are getting this from?
Every single time I think they cannot possibly be more inane and insane, the Dumpmonkies go deeper.
Incredible!

You need a $60,000.00 degree in social justice and lezbonics to totally understand it. Also maybe some :stoner:wil help!

It will get close to $5 a gallon in california, but none of it will be Trump's fault. The liberal majority out here including our senile governor is determined to keep adding tax after tax onto gasoline to pay for their pet projects.
-
I remember when gas was close to $5 a gallon, back in 2006-2007. Yes, this was during Bush, but one day, he announced that he would remove the moratorium on offshore drilling. Guess what happened next.

I was in Katy, TX a few weeks ago (next to Houston). Regular was $1.98/gal. Up here in N. Texas today it was $2.09.
Whatcha paying there in the land of my birth (So Cal)? The Land Of Deeply Regressive Taxes.

$5 gallon gas will only happen in liberal hellholes. The rest of us will enjoy between $2-3 a gallon. Oh and I seriously doubt it will get up above that for the foreseeable future. Seems our "Drill, baby, Drill" has worked wonders for the price... not to mention you idiots said it never would. Wrong again, dummies. If I was always wrong I would think that maybe my world view was the problem. You idiots never seem to learn.

Silicon Valley isn't SoCal, but it's in the $3.00-$3.10 range.
The DU-morons are living in a dream world. It would take a monumental disruption in world oil supply for oil to go high enough for $5 gasoline. And if prices do rise, then fields that are not currently economically viable would start coming online, possibly to a degree that would prevent the $5 gasoline for which so many DU-folk seem eager.

Exactly SV! Economic knowledge is not the dummies strong point. For that matter dummies seem to be quite weak in any knowledge... common sense number one on the list.

That's been my take on oil.
We will see spikes, but as more time goes by, the market is getting more settled with the fact that OPEC carries very little weight now. We stop extracting, the arabs raise the price, we simply start bringing stuff back online again. They are screwed... the oil game is over for the foreseeable future. Only the US government can screw it up now... God help us if one of these socialist pig leftists get elected again and starts pimping the fossil fuel elimination fairy tale.

30% surcharge. Pretty regressive. Way to go California democrats! Punish the poor just for being poor!

and the new $0.12 a gallon tax "for the roads" hasn't kicked in yet.

There have been some yuge ( :-) ) game changers in the oil/gas marketplace since the Bush Administration. Despite Obama MALAdministration efforts to hinder it and limit the effects, the oil field in ND came online, Canuckia's oil sands came online, and shale came online (just off the top of my head). And I think there were some recent major discoveries in AK and TX. So US dependence on foreign oil has been, AFAIK, reduced, and dependence on ME oil even more so. If Mexico ever woke the Hades up and let non-government companies invest in modernizing their facilities and explore/drill, their production would probably soar (not that I expect that magnitude of wisdom increase from Mexico's current Screw-the-Yankees culture).

Especially since the "gasoline sales tax" (9.67%+2.25%) were both sold as being EXCLUSIVELY for roads (I know, I was there!). So for the third time Californians voted a gasoline tax "for the roads" that will go into the General Fund to pay for colostomy bags for illegals.
That is part of the reason I moved out -- the land of my birth has gone NUTS.
-
The diversion - theft! - of gas tax and vehicle registration $$ into "mass transit" began, AFAIK, with Jerry Brown's first maladministration, in the 1970s. The diversion to General Fund is more recent, and may have begun under Wilson, Davis, or Arnold (Arnold was a RINO, and Wilson a near-RINO).

I just checked out this site:
http://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article147437054.html
It just gets better and better:
Gas taxes
Existing: The base excise tax is 18 cents a gallon. A price-based excise tax is currently set at 9.8 cents a gallon, for a total rate of 27.8 cents a gallon.
Nov. 1, 2017: The base excise tax will increase to 30 cents a gallon.
July 1, 2019: The price-based excise tax will reset to 17.3 cents a gallon, about half-a-cent more than the rate the Brown administration projects will be in effect by then anyway.
The 47.3-cent combined excise tax in effect July 1, 2019 will be adjusted for inflation beginning July 1, 2020.
The wage at work will just be able to cover the cost of driving there. Why does everyone in California think everyone lese will pay the taxes? Particularly gasoline, since almost no one takes public transit?

It started under Brown and continued and increased across all the administrations you named.

we didn't actively vote for this recent increase. The dumocrats have a super majority in the state legislature and because of that they can pass any tax they want, and out dementia ridden governor has not met a tax he didnt like

ummmmmm Wouldn't that mean that oil is around $140/BBL?

DU-folk have mentally :jerkit: ed their brains out thinking up fantasy-silver-bullet scenarios that would "get" Donald Trump. They're like a not-quite-novice chess player who plans out both his/her own moves and their opponents', and are surprised when the opponent does something (s)he didn't think of and wipes him/her off the board.

It was probably Linda Ronstadt's idea.

In DUmmieworld, the fantasy is a $4/gallon fuel tax that would pay for high-speed rail and teleportation. And free weed for everyone.

I grew up in OC back when it was fairly conservative in the 60's / early 70's. Now I'm a homeowner in a Ft. Worth suburb. I literally followed one of the Toyota moving trucks from Torrance to the Metroplex in 2014. We stayed overnight in Deming, New Mexico, and ate dinner with the local motel owner, who said that half his business was from people MOVING from California to Texas. There were about 8 or 10 cars with Calif plates, many of them filled with stuff in the back seats and U-Haul tow trucks, so I believed him.
When I left, I owned a $90,000 motor home and was paying $925 space rent that had gone up from $600 in 2005. I now have a mortgage on a much nicer house that's only a few hundred dollars more, but also not paying income tax which MORE than makes up the difference. And, I own the land. Ever since Reagan got Lucy'd when he signed the original immigration bill in the 80's, California was doomed.
THAT is my own major metric for California going to hell. At this point, people moving from California to Texas is a GAIN for Texas as all of us are net producers, and that metric isn't going to change UNTIL California starts reneging on their freebies. I give them until 2020 for that to happen.

Wait until they start voting in the same type of morons into the Texas state government that they did in mexifornia. Liberals never learn. They vote these people in, get their taxes raised thru the roof, move to some other place and do the exact same damned thing.
Trust me... it will happen.
