A ? about Hallah cooking
A new neighbor wearing a hagrib is unloading a moving truck. I can see 2 small kids helping w/ the unloading. Normally I take a casserole over the next day or so but I have cooked bacon & pork using my pans, stove and oven. Will this be considered unclean? I can make a tofu stir fry or a chicken rice casserole. Knowledge here would help me. Thx

2. Do you mean halal?
"Hallah" is an alternative spelling for a Jewish bread. I couldn't find "hagrib", so I am guessing you meant "hijab"? Therefore, I am guessing this about a Muslim family. I don't know what the rules are, but in Kosher law, if you make something for someone, they are supposed to accept it and eat it with joy, as it is a gift. I haven't any idea how that applies in the Muslim world, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is a similar "law".
Have you posted this question in theMuslim group? There are only two Muslims I am aware of at DU, but I do know they check that group. They may see it there (or post in the lounge, and widen the net).

I'm not Muslim, but having spent 28 years in the cab industry makes me qualified to comment about just about anything.
I'd clean the pans to modern standards, as you normally would. More importantly, if you're going to use meat, make sure it's halal.
All in all, might be safer to stick to a sweet dessert dish if you have any doubts, or fresh fruit. Rule of thumb: If it's vegan, it's probably halal. But dairy is fine if it's real dairy (no rennet or animal-based gelatin).

You should look up ideas for Ramadan iftar meals. You probably can't go wrong with halal beef meatballs. If you're in an area that sells halal meats, it should be easy to find. And make as you normally would. They would probably LOVE that, and they will love not only the kindness of the neighbours in a tense political time, but that you actually made an effort to make them something halal.

Most say as long as the pans that were used for the pork were washed with soap well they have no problem with it. A few said they still wouldn't want it if the pans had cooked pork. The stove and oven part didn't matter to any of them & they say it doesn't matter about the stove and oven.

11. I have cut up watermelon, grilled chicken thighs and corn on the cob.
Since sunset is soon I'll be going over in a bit. Moving is hard and with kids....oy!

Indeed. I have only known a couple of Sikhs in my life, but I have found them to be friendly, albeit reserved, and extremely intelligent.
