Chris Cornell gained fame as the lead singer to the grunge band Soundgarden and later with Audioslave.

Brian Bumbery, Cornell's representative, released a statement to NPR on the singer's death:

"Chris Cornell passed away late last night in Detroit, MI. His wife Vicky and family were shocked to learn of his sudden and unexpected passing, and they will be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause. They would like to thank his fans for their continuous love and loyalty and ask that their privacy be respected at this time."

Wow didn't expect that this morning. So Cornell, Ailes, man, I wonder who number 3 will be.

Sorry to see his passing but grunge was crap.  He and Corbaine were not "geniuses" -- just early adopters.

It looks like they really bought into their pity-parties.

RIP.

I loved the stuff... That era produced some incredible work (along with a lot of garbage). We had Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana... a lot of unique stuff that really worked.
I don't think you could call it something completely NEW, but they definitely forged new sounds and style that just seemed to come together.
I'm not one to get into the social aspects of music. If you want to enjoy music, you have to ignore that part o fit as much as possible. I look at it strictly for the musical content. Hell, I think Roger Waters is one of the most ingenious men to ever live, writing pure magic... but I hate that sonofabitch in reality

I was a teen in the 90s so naturally I loved the music.
