It Begins: FCC to investigate Colbert for homophobia, obsenity
The FCC has promised to investigate Stephen Colbert for Monday’s rant about Donald Trump. Many are calling parts of the joke homophobic and others calling it insensitive. Stephen Colbert is a late night host and his show is not within the 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. “safe harbor” zone.
yeah- the gays complained. DUmp blames Trump.

I know I run the risk of getting burned. Hopefully Colbert was "all in" and ready for any possible consquences.
I love his balls for those true remarks in the first place but will wait to see if he maintains them through the fire.
I wish him luck because we need all the anti trump we can get in the media!

It's because Colbert is doing Much better in the ratings. Gotta get that government revenue somehow, so they can give that Big tax break to the super wealthy.
CBS will pay it, and it brings with it some free publicity, and maybe a few more tune in. It's not like there is an exodus among current viewers. Those complaining probably don't even watch, but saw these clips, and suddenly became OUTRAGED!!

Which brings us to Colbert's recent, controversial monologue in which he directed a homophobic slur at the President, suggesting sarcastically that he engages in penetrative sex acts with Vladimir Putin. What's most striking about the monologue, which aired Monday night, is how remarkably unmotivated it feels. Notionally angry at Trump for having treated CBS's Face the Nation host John Dickerson unfairly, Colbert builds up a head of steam in an instant. It's just as ginned-up as Fallon's enthusiasm for the lip-syncing abilities of every one of his guests. "You're not the POTUS, you're the Bloatus!" Colbert intones, the umbrage in his voice rising. "You're the glutton with the button. You're a regular Gorge Washington!"
It's not hard to see why Colbert ended up defaulting to a joke that presumes the worst thing you can call a man is gay—the rest of his material wouldn't get him booked as a guest on The Late Show. The show, like all late-night shows, is structured to privilege Colbert's sensibility and his wit abone all. But Colbert has little to say beyond broad, bland puns about Trump's physique, intelligence, and relative popularity. There's no guiding point-of-view here as to what makes Trump so uniquely nettlesome as to make the outrage routine even plausible. Colbert seems simply to be working off a list of lowest-common-denominator critiques of Trump that anyone could understand, and at least a few could be provoked by. That a fairly conventional sort of antigay humor comes as the culmination of a routine so allergic to ideas is no surprise.

There is no investigation, it is only a review.
It's not a small thing. The people at the FCC are sitting around waiting to be in the spotlight... the chance to be shown doing their job. They'll most-likely begin extracting all kinds on concessions from CBS, first thing.
They're not only reviewing the show. They're reviewing CBS's broadcast-license.
Congress can mandate and authorize the FCC to create new rules and policy while the review is in-progress, when the FCC gets-around to analyzing Colbert's segment. Current rules say the FCC must release transcripts to the public every day.
So this isn't going-away easy for Colbert. He can't use an excuse like defending Dickerson. He was better-off saying he used bad-judgement. Now the FCC-panel will grill him on his emotional-stability.

I'm perfectly happy with Colbert shooting his mouth - and foot - off. He made Trump-Hating Progs look like the equine anuses they are, very publicly.

The Slime writer at once puts his finger on a hypocrisy I've long noticed among many Libs & Progs, and seems to do it: on one hand, Libs & Progs claim homosexuals (of all styles) are OK, normal, etc., etc., etc.; on the other, many Libs & Progs use epithets and insults that are predicated on the idea that calling someone homosexual is an insult, and being a homosexual is NOT OK. Maybe I'm misconstruing an ambiguous sentence, but the phrase I italicized seems to suggest that the Slime writer sees such homosexuality-based epithets and insults as sometimes OK.
