Why did the Trump administration need all of the Senators out of their offices for one day?

To plant bugs and raid internal paperwork with Russian spies? Find out who knows what in the senate? Mmmmm just a guess.
But why on earth would the White House create this Dog and Pony show except to divert attention away from some other activity. Soviet spy style?

Yeah...  Wait till the Senate returns to DC after the 2-week Easter break, then do it.

Why? Did BHO have all the bugs he planted removed while Congress Critters attended Trump's Inauguration (or otherwise took the day off)? :rimshot: :tongue:

Why not just wait for the government shutdown?  They won't go to work while they are home laughing at all the poor people who won't get their federal cheese.

Didn't Congress just come off a two week Easter holiday?  Why not do it then, while no one is around.

Well, Trump is trying to save money, so those union bug-planters charge golden time for overnight work, and it saves money to have them do it during the day instead.  :-)
