Title: How long before the dummies get behind this?
Post by: I_B_Perky on April 17, 2017, 07:07:37 PM
Ran across this in my internet surfing.... and the first thing I did was go to DU to see if they had found it.  Alas, they had not.

An excerpt:

Quote
A House Democrat has introduced legislation to enhance the Constitution’s presidential removal procedures in response to concerns about President Trump’s behavior.

Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) filed the bill as the House remains on its two-week April recess to empower former presidents and vice presidents of both parties, in coordination with the sitting vice president, to determine if a president is fit for office.

Blumenauer’s proposal stems from concern that the Constitution’s 25th Amendment, which was adopted five decades ago, would fall short in cases of emotional or mental incapacity.

The amendment states that the vice president assumes the Oval Office in the event a president is removed from office, dies or resigns.

Alternatively, the vice president and a majority of Cabinet officers can also jointly declare that a president is unfit to serve. The vice president would then take over as president in such a case.

Basically it is: "We didn't win-let's change the rules!"  Sounds like the dummies to a T.  I hope the dummies read this.   :cheersmate:

Well, we do need a psycho exit bill for the other branches of our Government.  Some members thereof concerned about such dangers as Guam tipping over and a bunch more so retarded my mind refuses to remember them.

You must be thinking of the House member who asked the operators of the Martian Rovers if they could go see where the astronauts landed...
Or the one declaring the migration routes of sharks have been changed because of the slave trade...
Then there was "We must pass it to find out what's in it."...

The problem I see with this is when you have a VP more nutso than the POTUS, ex. "Uncle" Joe Biden, or A. A. Gore, Jr.
Or a VP along the likes of Hubert Humphrey, Walter Mondale, or Dan Quayle, who NOBODY wanted to see as POTUS, and practically guaranteed nothing adverse was going to happen to the big guy...

... empower former presidents and vice presidents of both parties ...

Most of the time there would be some 6-10 formers alive and mentally capable (putting it very kindly, where Carter and AlGore are concerned). And as Carter, Clinton, and AlGore illustrate, some are highly partisan and being ethically challenged would be an improvement. As the US Supreme Court has illustrated through the past couple of centuries that is wa-a-a-a-ayyyyy to much power to be concentrated in a very few decent people, let alone unethical and hyper-partisan people like Carter, Clinton, and AlGore.

So, even ignoring the grossly obvious, "We lost so we want to change the rules," aspect of this, common sense says this proposal deserves an Oh-Hell-NO!!!

Unconstitutional. It would require an amendment. But it is good to see that leftist's are using the Stalin tactic of using the label  "Crazy" to eliminate political enemies.

The writing in the article from The Hill is a bit sloppy, but I understand it to mean that the D Congress Critter is proposing a Constitutional Amendment. The chance of it passing is considerably less than a snowball's chance of surviving in an erupting volcano. So it's a publicity stunt to bolster to Trump-is-Crazy narrative and grandstand for his east Portland, OR Prog base.

The dems have been doing this since Reagan.*  Same old playbook.

* I was a kid before then so I cannot speak to what they did before that. Same thing more than likely.

I remember when I read that.  Laughed my ass off. Then got sad that the idiot that said that was actually elected to the US House of Reps.  That and the one that said Wake Island gonna tip over.   :thatsright:

Reminds me of a Grandpa Perky saying:  Somebody needs to go ahead and kill that fool cause he damn sure too stupid to let live.
