But damn, it's not the trigger I was hoping it was.

3. If Reid had gone nuclear back in the day...
Republicans would have howled like children and shrieked about how Democrats have no respect for the American people or the legislative process, and they would have successfully woven that into their election strategy, eagerly assisted by a media ever-eager to paint Democrats as incompetent obstructionists.
And today the media would be playing it's "both sides are the same" card, vilifying Democrats for opposing Gorsuch.

4. They were going to do it this time or the next...
Either way, the nuclear option is their thing.
Hmmmm.
<<<thought it was Harry Reid's thing, this Reid option.

5. They were going to do it eventually.
The filibuster cannot survive this partisan environment.

6. They will regret it one day.
Of course, the difference is, unlike the Dems and the primitives, we on this side acknowledge that everything one does is a two-edged sword, so we brace for the consequences. So when the tables are turned, as they inevitably are, we aren't damaged so much.
Too bad for the Dems and primitives they don't think that way.

7. at this point, it's best for everyone if we discard empty illusions as quickly as possible
the idea that our senators could filibuster the destruction of America was a fanciful one
the tearing down shall proceed apace
if the DNC has any ambition for electoral success whatsoever, there are already campaign ads ready to run next week featuring this situation

10. Yes, it is a fantasy. This is why this particular election was so important...sadly
people will realize too late.

11. Indeed it was. And we blew our chance.
Why do we keep doing that, I wonder? Are we Democrats so stupid as a group that we can't see what will happen if we fail to elect Democrats? Will we see even now? I'm beginning to wonder...

14. It isn't really democrats
Voters at least.
In fact, we do the heavy lifting.
The problem are the 1/3 of the country that votes R and the 1/3 of tge county that either sits out elections or votes third party.
We are pushing mud ....
<<<has a feeling the primitives are going to be pushing mud for a very long time yet.

13. When wasn't an election important!
Gore would not have started the avalanche that has enflamed the entire middle east. Kerry would never have put judges on the Sumpreme Court who would have agreed with Citizens United or gutted the civil rights voting act.

8. They are voting on cloture.
They will begin the debate.

So......Bennett of Colorado was the fourth Dem to turn on the primitives?

I would laugh if they end the filibuster, seat Gorsuch and then change it right back.

Even if they did that, it could be changed if the Dems take control again.
-
Even if they did that, it could be changed if the Dems take control again.
And.....as usual.....when they change the rules, they'll forget that the blade cuts both ways; that while they may enjoy a temporary advantage, when the tables are turned.....
Democrats, liberals, and primitives are s-o-o-o-o-o-o-o stupid. They never think beyond their own desired outcomes.

In 2004, Senator John Kerry (D-MA) was running for President, and the Governor of Massachusetts was Republican Mitt Romney. Former Senator Ted Kennedy prodded state legislators in Massachusetts to change the appointment rules in Massachusetts so the Governor was no longer in a position to name a sitting senator if John Kerry won.
Of course, John Kerry did not win. As Senator Kennedy’s health deteriorated, he then requested that the state of Massachusetts change the rules…again. Now, Senator Kennedy wanted the Governor to make an appointment. Conveniently, Massachusetts now had a Democratic Governor in place, Deval Patrick. Kennedy was worried that the 145 day gap between his eventual passing and a special election would hurt the liberal chances of Obamacare passing immediately. So, once again the Massachusetts legislature changed the rules to suit the political needs of liberals in Washington by mandating a temporary appointment quickly followed by a special election. There was only one thing they didn’t account for…those pesky voters in Massachusetts electing a Republican. Now what? Change the rules again! Only this time, they’ll have to change federal rules, since they’ve run out of options in Massachusetts.

Yeah. Another example of the Democrats, liberals, and primitives changing a long-standing rule so as to gain some sort of advantage--but it ends up only a temporary advantage, and can be used by the other side too.
Primitives don't understand that.
**** the idiots.

3. If when Reid had gone went nuclear back in the day...when we were in power
Fixed that for you, dummie.
Actions have consequences dummie. We warned your side not to do it. We told you there was a day when you would not be running the show and all you idiots on the left could see was the MSM cheering reid on and proclaiming that the dems would be in power for the foreseeable future.
Guess what dummies? That day has arrived and a lot sooner than you thought.
So you
:ownit:
-
And the DUmmies are hissing and spitting as one over the idea that the Republicans are going to apply the "Harry Reid" solution to the nomination.

But there's really no point in bothering to try to explain it to the primitives; they'll never get it.
All the primitives can think about is "right now, right now," and no more beyond that.
****ing idiots, the primitives.

There was a time, in the distant past, when the DUmmies warned that the actions of Republicans, especially the action of winning elections, would be the cause of the end of the Republican party because the voters would see the result of their voters folly and would be so repulsed that the first chance they get to vote dumb-o-crap, they would. And they were able to put that little bit of self-doubt in our cause.
But that was long ago and far away. All Trump needs to do is get the economy humming, get rid of some of the stupid regulations and address the issue of the invasion of illegals into this country and bam, he gets re-elected. And so do the incumbent Republicans. The Dumb-o-craps lack one thing in particular and that is a statesmen (or statesperson). Until they get one they are lost in the weeds. There is only one Donald Trump and only he is allowed to mock people in public. One else can do it because they haven't perfected the fine art. The Democrat nominee in 2020 will have to try to out Trump Trump which is impossible.
The dems are committed to placing all of their efforts into their childish Russian circle-jerk which if it doesn't just fizzle out it will bring misery to them not Trump. The Bernie "plan" for free college is actually nothing new he ran on that during the primary and at least in PA it didn't get him much. I think some liberal millionaire businessman, self supporting campaign and all, will try to run in 2020 since it worked for Trump. This is be so much fun to watch because the dip establishment will not allow it and the Republicans will encourage it to encourage disunity among the DUmmies.
But that still doesn't put a statesmen in the Donk camp because there are none.

The Rs are "triggering" Progs. :rimshot:
-
Bennet (D-CO), Donnelly (D-IN), Heitkamp (D-ND), Manchin (D-WV) all voted yes, but Claire McCaskill didn't? She will not be that safe next year, either.
I hope the GOP goes nuclear on Gorsuch, and it's a big mistake for the DUmmies if they're forced to. Next time, it will be for a retiring liberal (RBG and/or Breyer) and that will replace a liberal with a normal person and nuclear will be the precedent.
-
I knew that using the "Biden Rule" and then the "Reid Rule" would inflame the insipid DUches more than they could contain.
FUN FACT: Leftists hate, HATE, it when their own tactics are used against them.

Thank you for reminding me of those days. I had put it all out of my mind.
As for the 60 vote rule and the filibuster, those tools benefit the democrats only, as Kagan and Sotomayor prove. There is absolutely no reason for the Republicans to hang on to it.

As Senator Kennedy’s health deteriorated
Not soon enough.
The Kennedy they missed.

These people affect D vote counts approximately as much as they affect R vote counts.

People whose political views differ from yours VOTE?! Horrors! These people affect D vote counts approximately as much as they affect R vote counts. If Nader hurt Gore, Perot hurt GHWB and Sen. Dole. If Jill Stein hurt The SHREW, Evan McMullin hurt Trump (and said that his goal was to see Trump defeated).
Really, the Ds' problem is that they did not persuade enough people they were right, and, frankly, The SHREW was working to hard to attack Trump personally to make a significant persuasion effort.

I would laugh if they end the filibuster, seat Gorsuch and then change it right back.
If they did, the Dems would just pull the same BS on the next nominee. They believe they're playing from a position of strength, as Gingrich did back after the 94 election, though Gingrich had a better basis for it, his party having won a very sound majority in that year. Congress is an adversarial institution, and when one party decides to play hardball with a President who won't roll over for them (As G. H. W. Bush did, to his misfortune) it is much more difficult for them to win speaking from a divided body than for the President speaking from the bully pulpit, as long as the President has the stones for the fight.

Personally, I wish they would trigger themselves with a selfie. :-)

Somehow, I don't see that as a problem for President Trump. :whistling:
