Family member of teen burglary suspect killed in Wagoner County break-in speaks out

Via KTUL:

A family member of one of the three teen suspects killed after breaking into a Wagoner County home Monday is speaking out for the first time.

The grandfather of Jacob Redfearn believes shooting and killing the 17-year-old and his friends was not needed.

“What these three boys did was stupid,” said Leroy Schumacher.

Schumacher agrees his grandson and his friends made a bad decision, but not one worthy of deadly consequences.

“They knew they could be punished for it but they did not deserve to die,” said Schumacher.

Redfearn, 19-year old Maxwell Cook and 16-year old Jake Woodruff were shot by the homeowner’s son while breaking into the Wagoner County house Monday.

Schumacher says his grandson didn’t have a chance. The 17-year old, he says, never got into trouble.

“Brass knuckles against an AR-15, come on, who was afraid for their life,” said Schumacher.

Since the shooting, Wagoner County deputies have arrested 21-year-old Elizabeth Rodriguez, the alleged getaway driver.

Schumacher believes she was the ring leader, and investigators say she admitted to planning the whole thing.

The homeowner’s son has not been charged with a crime. Deputies believe he fired in self-defense.

“There’s got to be a limit to that law, I mean he shot all three of them; there was no need for that,” said Schumacher.

WCSO: Getaway driver in deadly home invasion had no connection with homeowners

Mahoney now says Rodriguez, who is believed to have planned the robbery, did not have any connection with the homeowners. The sheriff's office believes she did have indirect knowledge of the house.

"She knew that there would be expensive stuff there," Mahoney said. "She thought that there would be expensive stuff there, and so they chose to burglarize that home."

Investigators also say that Rodriguez and the deceased suspects burglarized a spare apartment at Peters' home earlier in the day. They then returned later to rob the main house.

They also say the homeowner's son shot at all three suspects inside the home. One of the injured suspects reportedly exited the home and tried to get back into Rodriguez's vehicle, but investigators say she told them that she drove away and left him in the driveway.

Well, the not-so-grand-father's attitude illumines the kid's choices in life. The 3 burglars carried a knife and brass knuckles. Use of either is use of deadly force. The resident who shot them defended himself against three home invaders' deadly force, and the law does not require that he use a knife against the guy with a knife, or brass knuckles against the guy carrying the same.

The three thuglings carried a knife and brass knuckles and encountered what they knew they risked - and thought they could overmaster - a home owner with a gun. When the home owner accosted them and gave them a chance to flee, they decided they could tough it through. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Society might have benefited had they fled and changed their way of life, but at least they won't be taking the proceeds from their robberies and buying guns.

No mercy on stupidity.

Just call it the Darwin Effect, leading to the ultimate Darwin Award (for those who qualify).

Sure, he had a chance.

He had a really big chance.

He stood in front of a house that wasn't his.

He had the chance to turn 90 degrees and head on down the sidewalk.

He chose...poorly...

And the homeowner was supposed to use his crystal ball real fast to determine that these thugs didn't have any firearms or other nefarious weapons?

Grandpa needs to STFU.

Why kill the grandfather just because the grandson didn't have a chance? That seems rather extreme.

They have a tern for people in their homes who ask questions first and shoot second: dead crime victims.  This grandpa is nuts.

Society might have benefited had they fled and changed their way of life, but at least they won't be taking the proceeds from their robberies and buying guns.

Society benefited plenty but the results of this event.  Who knows how many crimes would have been perpetated and lives harmed or ended had these criminal thugs been allowed to continue their ways.

All's well that ends well.

In the interview on Thursday’s “World News Tonight With David Muir,” Rodriguez said it was her idea to target the house, echoing statements she gave to investigators Wednesday. She told authorities she knew the family living in the home had money and expensive belongings.

“We just thought we could get more,” she told ABC News. “We were greedy.”

===========================================

That mentality took 25 years to ingrain into the majority of this snowflake generation, and this generation is the most worthless generation of Americans I have ever seen. The reason murder, AIDS, HIV, homosexuality, transgenderism, and lesbianism is so high among this generation is they have absolutely no concept of the sanctity of life, respect of private property, privacy, or any respect for authority. Speaking in general terms of course, but I've never witnessed this depravity on such a large scale. Europeans don't act like this. The closest culture that does is Islam.

Lazy, lying, conniving, illiterate, politically correct products of the United States Department of Public Education.

Too bad the driver didn't go inside as well.
