Protesters Beware: D.C. Mayor Appoints New Police Chief With Long Record of Mass Arrests and Depriving Rights
<snip>
At a time when the right to protest in the nation’s capital has never been more important, Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has appointed an abuser of First Amendment freedoms, Peter Newsham, as the city’s new police chief.
From the Pershing Park mass arrests of 2002 to dragnet arrests at Donald Trump’s inauguration, Newsham has shown a recurring pattern of violating protesters’ civil rights, said one of the lawyers who sued the city after the 2002 protests and won a multi-million-dollar judgement for protesters and policing practice reforms.
“As people are taking to the streets in the Trump era to protest throughout the United States, and in particular here in the nation’s capital, it is critical that fundamental First Amendment rights be afforded protection,” said Mara Verheyden-Hilliard, executive director of the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund (PCJF), which also defended those arrested in New York’s Occupy protests.
But the stakes in Washington are arguably bigger than in other cities, as this is where the White House, Congress and top federal agencies are seated. Newsham’s appointment sends “a chilling message to all those who are coming out to stand in defense of targeted communities and against bigotry,” Verheyden-Hilliard said.
His use of mass arrests is a matter of public record…

Well, there's an easy way around this.
Just don't break the law, and one'll be okay.
From Manny's message board; new thread, no responses yet.

Whoa; I'd thought this thread had potential to draw a lot of comments.
I thought wrongly; nary a comment.
But then I looked at everything else on Manny's message board, finding that even those threads that have responses, have only one or two, and it took forever before anyone said anything.
Traffic seems to be as slow as molasses during the hard freeze, which makes this a good time for Manny's primitives to go back home, where they came from, Skins's island, where their fellow primitives who never left are standing ready to greet them with open arms, hugs, and kisses.

Depriving Rights
Is "depriving rights" DUmmyspeak for jailing the guilty?

Apparently.

Exactly.

They just HAVE to make that instant jump

Geezuz.
After 17 hours, there's been 42 "views" but no comments by any of Manny's primitives.
And surely half those "views" have been mine, checking to see if anyone's commented.
Some months ago, some of Manny's primitives claimed that things were so busy on the site that soon they'd overtake Skins's island in traffic.
It looks to me as if they're in a race with big Jerry's democratwarrior or crazy Andrea's oldelmtree or the rabbi's liberalunderground instead.

I've been thinking about this, because it bothers me that WillyT got only 42 "views" on his thread on Manny's message board, while we got 189 "views" on the same thread here in the DUmpster.
And after only 12 hours, not 17 hours.
Singular, as conservativecave has never, ever made any allegations that we're anywhere near the massive size of Manny's message board. In fact, we're pretty tiny.
I thought for sure the topic of police-state oppression would be a red flag for Manny's primitives.
But now I'm thinking it's probably the personality of the poster, not the contents of the post, that explains its poor viewership. The WillyT primitive has been uppity before, and maybe that turns off his fellow primitives, and they're ignoring him.
A pleasant personality helps, in drawing an audience.
<<<knows.

...where they came from, Skins's island, where their fellow primitives who never left are standing ready to greet them with open arms, hugs, and kisses.
Or possibly not.

From the Pershing Park mass arrests of 2002 to dragnet arrests at Donald Trump’s inauguration ...
My understanding of ProgSpeak is imperfect, but I think I can translate this: Willy had thug-friends among organized thug-groups at those places who got arrested before being able to carry out their thug-mischief. I wonder if it's significant that he spoke of this in the third - rather than first - person. Well, OK. No, I don't really wonder.

I don't see any mention of rioting being protected under the Constitution. Oh. My bad. The normal definition of rioting is what Lefties refer to as peaceful protesting. My mistake.
