What do conservatives fear?
Hi,
What is it that conservatives fear? They talk a tough game at all times and in all parts of the world, but there is something that they fear, viscerally, and on an existential level. What is it?
The Belgian writer, Lauryssens, writes of a proto – fascist in pre ww11 Germany:
“For Moeller van den Bruck there is no doubt that again the arch enemy of German culture is liberalism, which stands for everything that is corrupt.”
The last line of the above could have been written by an American Christian Republican in the year 2017. “..liberalism, which stands for everything that is corrupt.” The line is universal - “everything” and finally judgemental - “corrupt”. For those that hold to this belief, the words 'crooked Hillary' would likely have been a lighting rod to what they already know is true, and the sight of Obama's polished shoes on the president's desk in the oval office? I'll leave that to the imagination.
Of course there is a religious ontology to this thinking for the American Christian Republicans: the “fall” of man. Again, for those who believe this story, there is no reasoning to be done, for the world is fallen and can never be put right by liberal, and as they believe, tainted secular tinkering with God's plan. Such dangerously wrong ideas and practices lead straight to the horrors of socialism, communism and the demon. For them, it is a done deal.
I'll confess that there is little comfort in the above analysis, but sometimes it is reassuring to look into the distorting mirror of the other's mind and see it as it is. Fearful.

I fear nothing. I doubt anybody else here does either.

I fear running out of ammo while cutting down the filth the democrat party is unleashing on America. So I load more.

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Any questions? :whistling:

Not totally true.
I fear that in the name of political correctness, my granddaughter will have to dress and shower in the presence of naked biological males.

What the Hell is this primitive talking about?
When it comes to fear and paranoia, nobody, but nobody's, topped the primitives.
If it moves, the primitives are scared of it. If it stands still, the primitives are scared of it. If it's hard, the primitives are scared of it. If it's soft, the primitives are scared of it. If it's light, the primitives are scared of it. If it's dark, the primitives are scared of it. If it's round, the primitives are scared of it. If it's square, the primitives are scared of it.
And so on and on and on.....and most of all, if it's new, the primitives are terrified shitless of it.

I fear nothing because God is in control.

They've been doing this "conservatives fear" thing for years now with absolutely no evidence except what they make up. I think it's like some type of comfort food for them to believe that we're afraid. However, I can look at the top threads in Skin's GD forum at any time during the day and find several posts with subject lines that scream "We're afraid!!"
It's just another fantasy they've made up, howbeit one they've tried over and over again that works on them because it's what they want to believe. Meh.

For the primitives, I will tell you exactly what I fear.....................
PARAGRAPHS

I don't fear much of anything, excluding situational circumstances, but I am concerned about many things.
I like the way leftists that are either fascists or communists think they are "liberal." That no longer works but for the truly indoctrinated left.
-
I'm not driven by fear; I don't think many DU-folk could honestly and accurately say the same, judging by their DU posts.

“For Moeller van den Bruck there is no doubt that again the arch enemy of German culture is liberalism, which stands for everything that is corrupt.”
That may be so, <<BUT>> the definition of "liberalism" as used here isn't what you think it is, DUmmy. - It's quite a bit closer to the Libertarian viewpoint in the USA. - Small government that minds its own business. One that allows its citizens to do as they please, provided that in doing as they please they do not infringe upon the rights of others.
Your view of liberalism is equality of result, enforced by government diktat. Nobody may fail, nor may anybody be too successful. Your version of liberalism amounts to kinder, gentler slavery. we are here to serve the state, and as reward, we may eke out a perfectly mediocre life.. just like everybody else.

The guy quoted was a very long time ago, the 1870s to the 1920s.
I surely hope the Doper primitive doesn't think the word "liberal" meant the same thing back then, that it appears to mean today.

As usual...
.... it's pure projection.

An excellent point, Coach. The meaning has no real meaning in their context. They are Communists, with no direct line of ascendance from classical liberalism.
That is OUR antecedent.

My sig line quoting Big Dog says it all.

Miskie and Coach nailed it. "Liberalism" in the thought of Pre-WWII Europe meant something entirely different than it does in 2017 North America. Hell for that matter it doesn't even mean exactly the same thing in 2017 Canada as it does in 2017 America. But precision in language has never been a strong point with the American Left, which is why arguing with them is so fruitless - everything they say is fluid and meanings change at their whim from sentence to sentence, even within the same paragraph, making it impossible to get them to recognize their own fallacies. The late Alan Colmes or the sadly-not-late Sally 'Horseface' Kohn in action are perfect cases in point.

Conservatives fear failure, being reduced to Govt titty sucking, 2nd amendment violations, etc... pretty much everything that liberals stand for

I fear tools getting rusty.

Easy answer: RINO's. At this point, they are the number one enemy of freedom in the U.S. The Democrats are completely out of play if the RINO's get on board.
-
I fear nothing. I just put up with 8 years of democrat control.

My sig line quoting Big Dog says it all.
Thank you, sir!

The Belgian writer, Lauryssens,
Why should I care? :bird:

Ummm.... I fear I will die before I get to see all you dummies commit suicide?
Sheesh. :mental:

Yes, that and more. Add in 'A Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovitch,' South Park's 'Tolerance Camp' episode, and 'Brazil' and you'll be getting warmer.
