If Lamond's white privileged liberal friends help him embrace the victimhood he imagines himself to be experiencing, for him they're keepers. For the boy primitive, the issue is more important than solving the problem. The problem goes away, and suddenly Lamond has to take responsibily for himself.

And that ain't gonna happen.

You know, I haven't seen Lamond for a while, other than a rare short appearance to say something and then quickly evaporate.

I suspect he's off somewhere, practicing on how to not make promises he has no plans of carrying out.
