A small American brewer is encouraging consumers to ditch Anheuser-Busch in response to the company’s Super Bowl commercial and vow only to drink “anti-globalist beer” in the future.
William Kelly, owner of Citizen Kelly’s Irish Ale, said the commercial recounting beer tycoon Adolphus Busch’s journey to America from Germany was politically charged.
“Budweiser stepped in it big time when it inserted the immigration debate into its 60-second Super Bowl commercial, ‘Born the Hard Way,’ ” Mr. Kelly said in a press release. “The spot reveals a dramatized — and apparently fabricated — account of co-founder Adolphus Busch’s journey to America.”
Budweiser said the commercial had been in the works for months and wasn’t meant to be a political statement directed at President Trump’s immigration policies.
But the hashtag #BoycottBudweiser immediately started trending on social media after the ad aired on Sunday.
Mr. Kelly recommended several “anti-globalist” beers that disillusioned Budweiser drinkers can safely switch to, including MillerCoors and Yuengling, whose owners both supported Mr. Trump during the general election.
“Budweiser’s insertion of politics into America’s pastime was a high-risk move that has alienated former Budweiser fans, leaving them on the hunt for an authentic American beer,” he said.

Bullshit.
Just like Audi's "poor, pitiful, barefoot and pregnant US females" commercial (featuring narrator Lies Galore) and of course, the "look at all these struggles this brave illegal alien had just to break US law."
They wanted to be political and virtue signal -- reap the whirlwind.

Meh, who cares.

I didn't take that Budweiser commercial to be a political statement. Partly because it depicted Adolphus Busch immigrating LEGALLY (at the time), and then showed the hardships he endured to live his American Dream.
84 Lumber and Audi are the ones who stepped in it. 84 Lumber did their pro-illegal immigration commercial and Audi did their "we're finally paying everyone equally, we're so virtuous" spot, THOSE were the companies that stepped in it.

No, it is actually worse than the others since Budweiser conflates legal and illegal immigration in making the blanket statement "Immigration Is Good."

point taken. That does change it.

I don't care for ANY of Budweiser's products. I have never set foot in an 84 Lumber. I have never driven an Audi. So, that makes it so much easier for me to boycott those three companies.
Apparently it is "fashionable" in this country to completely blur the line between LEGAL immigration and ILLEGAL immigration. I can't think of anything more INSINCERE, IGNORANT and DISRESPECTFUL than that.

There are better beers out there. Budweiser is not one of them.

I don't drink alcohol anymore, but when I did, I went for other beers, usually Sam Adams or Saranac.
