Or as I call it...Prominent Republicans Push Plans To Lose Big In 2018

The blueprint involves a $40 tax on every metric ton of carbon dioxide released by burning fossil fuels, with the price climbing over time. To avoid an undue burden on the poor from the higher energy bills that would result, the projected $200 billion to $300 billion in annual revenue would be redistributed to households in the form of quarterly checks from the Social Security Administration. Families of four would see an average annual payout of $2,000 under the plan.

Read the quote carefully.

JFC... :censored: How about this. Do not tax carbon emissions. Then energy prices will not go up and will not force the poor to spend more money on it.   :argh:

And where is this revenue stream supposed to go that will help the climate?  It will end up in the General Treasury, with no relation to the problem it is supposed to 'Fix.'  All it will be is a punitive tax on energy use with no higher aim served.

This is crazy.

My favorite part-the price will climb over time.  We know how well that works out.

Other possible attendees at the meeting include the president’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, who weighed climate change policy during the campaign
