For about a year now, I've ordered stuff, usually but not always from Amazon, that's sent to me at the seller's choice, which has invariably been the USPS, the United States Postal Service.
Other people have problems with the post office; I'm one of the Charmed, who never has, never does. All my life (not just recently), whatever's been mailed to me gets to me on time, and intact. I understand that's not a common experience, but it's been mine.
Anyway.
The last order I placed with Amazon, I asked to be sent to an address in Omaha, not mine.
According to the tracking, the package was sent from Jug's hometown to Omaha via the United Parcel Service, UPS, and arrived at their facility in Omaha on Thursday morning.
Good, I thought; Saturday morning had been promised, and it looked as if the recipient were going to get it a day earlier than that, on Friday afternoon.
Uh, no.
According to the tracking, the package was then sent--in the city of Omaha--to the post office facility Friday morning, meaning it got there too late to be delivered by the post office on that day, and actually will show up today, Saturday.
Question.
None of us knows the minds of Amazon, of the USPS, of UPS, but speculate, please. Why would the package go from UPS to the USPS in Omaha, rather than being delivered directly by UPS in that city? It looks to me as if this transfer from one delivery service to another cost a day in transit which didn't have to happen.

UPS probably has a contract with USPS to deliver certain items on certain days. IIRC, UPS won't deliver on weekends, where USPS will deliver on weekends.

Yes you are correct.
I had ordered something that was relayed the same way. It arrived by UPS to USPS Philadelphia sectional center (I live just outside Philadelphia) on a particular day and I received it three days AFTER that. :thatsright:
Most times anything mailed within the Phila. sectional center area is delivered the very next day but apparently NOT from UPS. Union thugs delaying the delivery ??? :censored:

Sometimes the USPS also handles packages for people that live out in the boonies.
