Oh my.
I dunno if ol' Bob's correct or not, but assume that since he was in the military--and franksolich never was--on this, the dude knows what he's talking about.
But please correct me if I'm wrong, and Bob's actually wrong.

Military Unit Flying Trump Flag Improper & Not Acceptable.
No military unit should fly ANYTHING except American Flag.
But of course if ol' Bob's right, he's not really concerned about flag etiquette; he just wants to bitch and moan about the current PRESIDENT, no more than that.

1. It's time people understand a significant number in the military support Trump's hatred.

3. Yes. The professional military no longer works for the nation.
They work primarily for themselves, and for whoever will help advance their careers.

Same as the President's. This is inappropriate in so many ways.

5. This is what you get when you have a standing army
They are separated from the civilian population and no longer feel like average American citizens. They are loyal to America in the abstract, not to Americans. This is what allows military over throws and coups.

8. He's already gotten a SEAL killed on a half assed mission
that Obama had the wisdom to turn down.
He starts getting more people killed, the military will remove him. I'm sure they'd much rather have the malleable Pence than the raging narcissist.
Oh, I dunno. What were military fatalities under Obozo?

Hop-a-long is referring, no doubt, to that tweeted pic of an up-armored HMMWV flying a Trump flag cruising the Interstate in Kentucky. The vehicle has no "bumper numbers".
IE: Driver's side (UNIT):
CSC
3-130
Passenger side (Vehicle No.):
SPT-39
All tatical vehicles have them. That one, has none. My guess is, it belongs to local law enforcement.
My only response to that primitive nonsense:

Bob does not get to decide what Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, or Marines should do.
Bob is a DUmbass.
Don't be like Bob.

One could take his assertion as it stands: That the military is disproportionately supportive of GOP administrations and tolerant of Dem admins. That is true. There are several reasons for that:
1) Under Obama, the size of the military was cut dramatically (smaller than it had ever been since 1940) in personnel, equipment, and funding. At the same time, the mission was not reduced.
2) Cuts in personnel were enacted partially by attrition (simply not allowing some troops to continue their service), partially by involuntary separation, i.e. firing (richly deserved in some cases), but also by just plain layoffs. You tell a mid-career Soldier thanks for your service, but there's no room for you anymore after 10+ yrs, multiple deployments, and no serious negative incidents? They'll tell you to go **** yourself to your face, unless you're the CinC. In that case, they'll wait til you leave the room.
3) Pay and benefits: No, the US military is not a mercenary corporation, but neither are we slaves. When we signed up, there was a contract entered into between ourselves and the US gov't. Federal law mandates certain benefits, such as allowance for housing. The Obama admin CUT (as in the benefit shrank) that benefit for most troops. Raises that are REQUIRED BY LAW to be a certain percentage were SMALLER.
4) Weenies like Chuck Hagel, Ashton Carter, Leon Panetta as SECDEF (interesting side note: during the process of sequestration, Panetta would use military transport to FLY HOME TO CALIFORNIA every weekend at a cost to taxpayers of $32k/round trip. Meanwhile, vehicles are sitting in motorpools rusting and cannibalized for parts)
Those are things we see under a Dem admin. Under a GOP admin, we get
1) More personnel, equipment, and funding: Reagan and Bush43 both increased the size of the military, and not even two weeks into the Trump admin, we are getting ready to grow again.
2)No cuts in personnel except for those well-deserved firings (seriously, you want to get a DUI? Beat your spouse? Abuse your troops? Enjoy being a civilian)
3) Pay raises greater than required by law, every year
4) Two Words: James Mattis

I was wondering what in Hades TMN was talking about. Especially since military units marching in parades commonly carry multiple flags, with the US flag highest (per flag etiquette).
"My guess is, it belongs to local law enforcement." IIRC, many used military vehicles were sold to local law enforcement during Bush's second term (?) and throughout Obama's MALAdministration.
Not that facts matter to TMN's CT Paranoia.

From the linked article:
The vehicles were probably used by the military at one time, but are no longer being operated by current U.S. military members, Department of Defense spokesman Maj. Jamie Davis said Tuesday. It’s possible they were sold to civilians after being retired from active use by the military.
...
The Kentucky National Guard said Monday that the vehicles did not belong to them.
One additional point. A life-long civilian, like me, might not know from the lack of markings that the vehicles in question were not military. TMN all but certainly should. Either his confirmation bias, paranoia, and hatred have blinded him, or he was being deceptive.

Yes.
Next question?

I hear old Bob was in Vietnam or did he forget to mention it this time.

I have a question for old Hopalong.
When I burn a ANC flag or rainbow flag what side should I start on?

SEAL Team 2 out of Little Creek. Punishment will be like telling a child not to do something like that again. But what the child did was really funny so it is hard to remain serious. :rotf:

He's likely long since forgot that, if ever actually Military, or never noticed it. Regardless, he would never admit it, one way or the other.

I heard that, somewhere else, this AM. For the life of me, I have no idea how the USN does their numbers. I was just going by Army standards, assuming ARNG.

...and you're right.

That is an interesting thought - I am sure that the DUmmies that think burning a US flag is simply freedom of speech would fully support torching a rainbow flag....
(Yeah, right. They would raise holy hell)

I know someone who knows the truck in question. There was a stern email sent out regarding the incident and how it is a good idea not to repeat it. :-)
