New York Mayor Bill DeBlasio told CNN that he approves of the idea of shielding from deportation any illegal alien arrested for drunk driving.
During an interview on CNN’s State of the Union, host Jake Tapper pointed out to Mayor DeBlasio that the City of New York refuses to cooperate with the federal government to deport illegal aliens who have been convicted of drunk driving and grand larceny. Tapper went on to ask why the city is so quick to shield such dangerous criminals from deportation.
“Drunk driving that does not lead to any other negative outcome, I could define as that,” DeBlasio said before going on to say, “Someone commits a minor offense… let’s say someone went through a stop sign, they could be deported for that and their family could be torn apart and you could have children left behind where the breadwinner in the family is sent back to a home country, that is not good for anyone.”

De Blasio Comes Under Fire From Mothers Against Drunk Driving
Mothers Against Drunk Driving is furious with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio for comments he made in a television interview Sunday calling drunk driving a minor offense.
Richard Mallow, the New York state director for MADD, released the statement.
"There is nothing minor when drunk driving kills or injures 300,000 people every year," Mallow said. "Drunk driving is always a major offense and we should never minimize the impact it has on families and victims."

The Los Angeles City Council is slated to vote Tuesday to draft a law that would decriminalize sidewalk vending, in an effort to protect immigrants vulnerable to deportation.

Illegal aliens have been setting up (unlicensed) sidewalk vending stands in California for at least fifty years, and have never been touched. L.A., S.F., and San Diego are all famous for it (and for being sanctuary cities).
Conservative estimates put the illegal alien population in Los Angeles County alone at over one million.
