excellent read on what Brett Favre has been up to lately...
I agree 100% with this article...
and I think some of you packer fans should be thanking mike mccarthy, the man responsible for getting favre under control enough to have the season you guys did last season, if if allowed to continue, the guy that will prolly keep the PAck on top for years to come & win a few more championships without Favre..

"All of last season, McCarthy preached to Favre that less could be more and asked for a more disciplined approach that would reduce Favre’s 29 interceptions from the previous season. The gunslinger had his holster stripped. Favre went along, reluctantly. Then with some enthusiasm. All the way to the NFC Championship Game.
Then the old Brett -- the one with the bad habit of taking too big of a shot at too small of a time -- emerged. Corey Webster preyed on that forced, ill-advised Favre throw. Game over. Season over. The way the Packers finished was everything McCarthy had tried to prevent."

dude, honestly. as much of a conspiracy freak as you are about the NFL, ESPECIALLY as it pertains to the NFL manipulating games, referees, people, the playing surface, and on at least one occassion, the ****ing weather :whatever: , and you pick TODAY to suddenly chime in on the league's "official spin" on something? pardon me if I don't even read the g'damn thing.
if you lie down with dogs, JCC, you will wake up with fleas, as they say. :-) remember, the NFL has been scheming for world domination for years and years.

anyone getting the feeling that Favre has been playing for himself all these years?
a trophy collector?
a stat collector ??
in the end, he dumped the Packers like a cheap suit & made them look bad, screwed the heads up of his former players & left the new kid at QB in a REAL BAD SPOT...
-
I am going to have to get back to you on this one, JCC. I am busy gloating over john edwards' politcal corpse in the breaking news forum right now.

so you are saying the NFL is stepping up & trying to protect Americas Team (runner up) ?
trying to help the GB packers save face, after brett favre just royally SCREWED them ?
I will agree with you...
but everything this writer for the NFL just said, was already reality before he even typed it...
why can't you realize that favre has been out of control for years & ANY other Qb in the history of this league playing for anyone else, would've been benched years ago ?

Has anyone been to Lambeau lately? I was there a few years ago (off season, but still a great experience) and there was a whole freaking wing of the souvenir sop dedicated to Favre. I wonder if that is still there....
Everyone who loves the NFL should make a pilgrimage to Lambeau. I genuflected to the North and said 3 Holy Lombardi's. The Hail Marys I leave for the field... ;)

what, you didn't think that the crappy weather in super bowl XLI, which caused wrecks grossman to throw 2 picks and fumble twice, was a mere act of God, did you? :whatever:

Me in Vince Lombardi's office at the Packer Hall of Fame. Aug 2006.
NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING can compare with the aura of Lambeau Field and with the tailgators.
I still think this whole thing is a clash of egos between Favre and Thompson.
And I also think Favre should have stayed retired. But hey, he still enjoys playing football and I'll be rooting for both the Jets and the Packers.
I'm a diehard cheesehead and won't EVER wish anything negative on the players.

had dinner with my old man last night... (and Packer fan before there was cheez )
just to confirm his feelings about 'oh brett girl",
"brett favre is a BABY" ...
was his exact quote...
that is what should be coming out of Packer fans mouths right now...
spoken like a real man !! :lmao: ...
I guess packer fans just ain't got enough real men anymore eh !

In my book, THAT'S a real man.

well, MOST Packer fans showed their true grit last night & gave aaron rodgers a STANDING OVATION in his debut...
rodgers looked DAMNED GOOD (especially considering grant & many starters didn't even play) ...
he officially went 9-15 1 TD & 1 int ...
but, 3 passes dropped were RIGHT ON THE MONEY & that 1 INT wasn't his fault...
now I think we know why mccarthy & thompson were ready to make their move & they gave Brett girl EVERY chance to go out w/ style ...& he blew it...
aaron rodgers is the packers future....no doubt about it...
if rodgers stays healthy, the pack have a SERIOUS shot at the Norte this year & the SB... they should have a better running game this year too, which of course will help rodgers & the defense...
rodgers doesn't have the Texas Stadium jinx like Favre did either...

You've clearly never been to the Grove when Ole Miss was playing MSU.

I think I took a similar pic -- I need to find it.
God, I get goosebumps even in the memory.
Next time I can wrangle a trip to Chicago or Milwaukee AND it is football season, I will pay high 3-figures for a seat for a GB game. And I will match that for a tailgate session.
I don't know from college ball, so I can't comment on folk that prefer it.
