There they go again, the primitives making life harder than it has to be, for themselves.

What I'm doing with my apricot crop after I did everything else...

I'm pureeing them (halved, pitted but not peeled) with some sugar and fruit fresh...spooning the puree in to ice cube trays and freezing it. Then, I put the cubes in freezer bags and I will use the cubes in smoothies all winter. Someone else has probably already had this idea, but it was new for me! I suppose this would work with most fruits and it is sure an easy process.

franksolich pits apricots, as with peaches, and simply shoves them into the freezer.

No muss, no fuss, and no cavity- and obesity-causing sugar.

1. It's going to be so wonderful to have good local fruit all winter long. Enjoy!

You know, the hippowife primitive reminds me of my maternal grandmother, so brimming with happiness and joy and love and good feelings for all, just a really nice person.....excepting my maternal grandmother had sense about politics, being a rock-ribbed life-long die-hard Republican (of the Pennsylvania sort).

All of her 89 love-filled years; never once missed the (R) lever on those voting machines.

2. I puree them with habaneros

onion and garlic for my Thermonuclear Hot Sauce. The apricot gives it a different taste with about a five second time delay.

4. I like mine pretty hot

So I use about 3 lbs habaneros, 4 lbs apricots, 3 large onions, 2 bulbs garlic.

Surely the hobbling primitive is jesting.

And franksolich suspects the hobbling primitive is trying to be hip, with it, trendy, cool, by ornately mangling the English language.  I don't know for sure, but "habaneros" must be the nouveau politically-correct way to spell "jalapenos" or something.

Nope, the habanero (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habanero) is it's own pepper.  Super hot, much hotter than the jalapeno.

I worked at a Cuban/Carribean restaurant for a couple years that served a similar hot sauce.  Habaneros, guava sauce, generic BBQ sauce (KC Masterpiece), and maybe a couple other things I forgot.  Part of the sauce recipe included pureeing a #10 can of habanero peppers.  Best to wear gloves and eye protection.

Oh.

You know where I'm coming from, though.

The primitives like to think of themselves as experts on all sorts of arcane things, and that stuck out like the subway cat's rear end poking out of a manhole; I thought for sure there was some sort of game going on with the English vocabulary.

Yeah, I hear you.  They want to think they're all trendy and deep-thinkers.

I think I'd be sick of apricot smoothies by the middle of January.  I suppose learning to can fruit is too much trouble.

I just did some pork tenderloins for a wedding shower.....browned them, then put them in a roasting pan, with peach habenero perserves (that I melted down in a saucepan).. and baked them for about 90 minutes.

They were incredible!

I'm into making stuff.....but messing with habenero peppers is a no. Peppers can be dangerous little things to skin and eyes.
