I Might Be Crying On Inauguration Day And I May Never Stop For Who Knows How Long.
All of this is so damned painful. It is as painful to me as the time I had to do body ID in a tent with 30 bodies April 2, 1968 in Vietnam near Khe Sahn. It was the day I lost my Battalion commander, 3 guys and my West Point Captain from Bravo 1-5 1st Cavalry Division. It was a horrible horrible day. And to get shelled the same morning on top of it.
January 20 means to me that it probably was all in vain. If the Republican leaders all dropped dead I would probably celebrate. Sorry but I cannot take any more of this twisted shit. May Trump GOPPERS all rot in hell.
NB. My captain's name was Nawrosky and was a West Pointer and a sure 4 star general. He was a young and bright leader.

2. TheMasterNemesis, thank you for your service
Decades have passed but your courage in battle is no less significant now compared to then. I hope you have people you can confide in to share your pain.
I also hope you realize that promoting the idea of having political opponents drop dead, celebrating it and wishing them to rot in hell is counter to what we should be promoting as liberals. Yes, the Republicans have many ugly ideas and policies. We resent them for it because we know they will not benefit that average citizen. But how can we claim any moral high ground if we espouse such hostility and ill will toward them? Let's remain above the fray while strongly advocating for better approaches.
Cheers
See ya!

3. The High Road Is Gone For Me When They CELEBRATE Their Cruelty.
You know, ol' Bob's an old man who's had to deal with disappointment and discouragement most of his life.
He's been saying all these bad things are going to happen to him on and after January 20.
In this instance, I surely hope he doesn't get disappointed.

5. My condolences for loss of your friends and sorrow that it is now in vain.
I also can't stand the thought of Trump being sworn-in. My loss is not comparable with yours; however, all the work of my career and my fellow workers all over the world is being smeared by this ignoramus. I will not watch his ceremony on TV, but instead will watch a channel that will interrupt for breaking news. My hope is that before he is sworn-in, the DOJ will serve him with an arrest warrant for treason.
::)
So tough old Vietnam Bob is going to cry non stop from Jan 20 forward. When Obama was inaugurated, someone asked me if I wanted to go watch it in the breakroom. "No thank you" I said and went right on working.

Yet somehow people like ole Bob are the smartest people in the world.

These two things are connected, how?
The legacy of TMN's buddies' sacrifice was crapped on at time by TMN's fellow Libs/Progs - probably some of them right there on DU - and trampled by the Ds in Congress when they prevented Ford from assisting the South Vietnamese when the North invaded in 1975 (RMN sold the Vietnamese down the Mekong, so there's plenty of shame to go around).

I Was Not In Position To Shop For Surgeon When My Left Was Was Amputated 3-2014.
Health care IS NOT like shopping at Walmart God Damn It! Ending up in ER with sepsis from a Staph infection MES in my left foot was hardly the time to get in a wheel chair and GO OUT SHOPPING. I get so pissed every time I hear the market place crap.
I would not have survived without decent insurance and Medicare. It is that simple. I ended up with a lost foot and a wound pack on my right leg for 90 days with a 2 inches deep wound 7 inches long in my calf. Plus knee flush 7 weeks later.
The country is in critical condition with the pending GOP wrecking crew in charge. Why aren't voters hunting these GOP people down and accosting them?

His war story didn't get him enough sympathy, so he shared the sad story of how he lost his foot. At least he spelled staph right this time.

I Lost Left Foot To Staff 3-2014. I Feel Worse About This Election Than That Loss. Hear Me Out.
I know that what I am about to say is crazy. When I lost my foot it became a challenge. And quite honestly I never felt traumatized or terribly depressed about it. I did not like it but I decided I had to learn to live successfully disabled. I do not understand why. I also had infection in my right leg and knee and had 4 surgeries. I was a real mess for 9 months and wheel chair bound. And I struggled with 2 prosthetics until I got my 3rd one which is comfortable.

Newsflash (D)Ummie: Labelling people racist homophobe misogynyst or xenophobe when they are no such thing, in an effort to silence their opposition to your desired policies, is right up near the pinnacle of cruelty. And you primitive excuses for sentience did so day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute, for the last 8 ****ing years.
You are no where near as scared as you would be in a just world, one where the high road really is gone.
If I were in your position, I'd shut the **** up and start counting my blessings, and giving serious thought to just how fortunate I was.

Yeah.
When he first mentioned it, calling it "staff infection," I assumed it was iatrogenic in nature, not his own negligence.

CPT Michael R. Nawrosky - USMA Class of 1964 Memorial Service
Posted on 7/22/14 - by kr
Members of the USMA Class of 1964, together with their brothers-in-arms from USNA 1964, visited the Vietnam Memorial on The Mall in Washington, DC and Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia, on Sunday, 6 April 2014 to conduct a Memorial Service for their Fallen Warriors. Twenty-four men from the USMA Class of 1964 fell in combat – 1 in the Dominican Republic and 23 in Southeast Asia/Vietnam. CPT Michael Robert Nawrosky was the 13th man from ’64 to die. He actually died at Walter Reed Army Hospital from wounds he received in combat in April, 1968.

I thought he couldn't spell "gonorrhea".
I truly hope I'm not being unfair in asking a question like this, but I'm wondering--like, doesn't gangrene start showing up pretty obviously on someone? Wouldn't the flesh starting to turn black compel someone to run to the nearest physician?
I know it would me. How could ol' Bob have missed this, unless he's subconsciously suicidal?

It is possible. There is a medical condition called "takotsubo cardiomyopathy" which is probably what killed poor Debbie Reynolds (aside: I don't know whether to be happy that Carrie and Debbie healed and rebonded or sad this is what killed Debbie).
I think that condition meeting Mr. bob would be fitting. But I just don't know if the schadenboners over here could take it. We might die FROM THE SAME CONDITION! Too much happiness is the same to the heart as too much sadness!

Fair question, and I'll answer it without any jabs or jokes.
Gangrene is tissue death from insufficient blood circulation, which can be caused by a number of things. In Bob's case, it was caused by staphylococcus aureus infection, which can cause an abscess or eat away at the living tissue (necrotizing fasciitis). Both are obvious medical conditions which should catch the attention of the person.
The only treatment when the tissue dies, is to cut it away.
Bob may be suicidal. His emotional state as displayed on DU certainly appears so. I think it more likely that he neglected the signs of the infection, until it was too late. His self-neglect created the medical emergency he was whining about, when he said he was not in any shape to "shop" for medical care.

Ol' Bob sure gave the impression that he wrapped the captain's body in a poncho and put a tag on his toe, but the captain was actually wounded and medevacked out.

The first and best option for DUmmies is amputation just below the chin.

It's kind of interpretational. Hopalong didn't say he saw the CPT's body, he says he 'Lost' him, which from his point of view could include the fact the CPT was evac'd out and later died elsewhere without ever returning. It's best not to get too carried away parsing the fine points of people's stories to the molecular level, very few people communicate with the precision of, say, a franksolich, and supercritical analysis is therefore usually a wasted and misguided effort.

I didn't take it that way at all. I took it as his CPT died along with the others.

The fact that you got that out of it does not make it what he actually said, no offense intended.
I spent a career going through witness statements and sorting out what they actually said from what investigators and other witnesses thought they said, and eventually got pretty damn' good at it. Conservatives aren't any better at keeping the two straight than Libs, and both groups have plenty of people who, like DU's BugLady, will lie and distort to fit their own narrative even if they do understand.

Ol' Bob talks about how having Republicans in government means his buddies' sacrifices in Vietnam were supposedly all in vain?
Guess what, Bob?
At least we on the Right respect and salute veterans and those who die in action.
The Left, including your fellow DUmmies, regularly revel in their rabid hatred of the US military.
I just rediscovered this charming little post one of your fellow DUmmies wrote a couple years ago. In what started as an attack on 'American Sniper,' he reveals how he feels about the US military as a whole:
"Jesus Malverde (6,825 posts)
2. What gives me pause is the realization that these monsters.
Trained in the art of killing, torture or counter insurgency, come to live among us after their professional orgy of violence and murder is complete.
In Japan the generation that lived that life is largely dead by now. Same with the Germans who massacred millions.
Other countries churn these types out every day. Do you want them as your neighbor and in your community?"
Referring to a US soldier's tour of duty as a "professional orgy of violence and murder." This is how your buddies on the DUmp and the Left as a whole feels about our military, be they soldiers who died in battle or returning veterans.
Take it in, Bob.

Staff infections are what you get when higher headquarters decides to 'Help' you. Staph infections, while just as deadly, can at least usually be cured with antibiotics.

I'll just go with the sage advice of The Coach, "DUmmys lie, DUmmys lie all the time." That has 99.99% success record.
