WalMart grocery stores are perhaps the worst offenders. No sooner do customers walk inside the entrance, when Halal foods in display cases are the first things they see! Marked Halal, rows and rows of chickens await WalMart patrons!
Vigileaks walked up to the counter above these Halal chickens and queried, “What does Halal mean?” “Oh,” was the reply, nervously spoken in poor English as a second language, “It’s nothing. It’s nothing. How many would you like?”
What is usually not told the customer is the full definition of Halal.
Halal is an Arabic word that means “permissible.” In terms of food, it means food that is permissible according to Islamic law. For a meat to be certified “halal,” it cannot be a forbidden cut (such as meat from hindquarters) or animal (such as pork.) America’s pork farmers and related industries are terrorist targets.
The slaughter of a halal animal is called “zabihah” and there are certain guidelines to follow: The first of these guidelines is that Allah’s name must be pronounced during slaughter. In shocking truth, as revealed through authoritative research, Allah is Satan. Even former Muslims admit this!

If I see that I am headed straight for the bacon and bringing a pound or 2 and dropping on the halal display.
Seriously.
If I get accosted by WM employees I will just say "I changed my mind and left it there -- I figured you guys will put it back where it belongs later."

Is this another attack on Walmart? I've never seen any meat marked Halal at our Walmart.
ETA:
Also, I've never seen the meat department anywhere near the entrance.

No different than all the kosher foods.

Bingo. I had a Nazi roommate once, he was a big advocate of boycotting kosher-marked food. I ignored him, I'll ignore this. Not too crazy about arthropods, but as far as I'm concerned, if it's a nonhuman vertebrate it's at least potentially food, if things get desperate enough.

From everything I could find, there is one company, Crescent Foods which mainly produces Halal chicken that is being sold in Walmart.
Also, only 77 of their supercenters in areas that have large Muslim populations will carry the food.

Of those '77,' wonder how many will be displaying these at the front along with the halil stuff?

H2BM, snack foods usually are not stocked in the meats section. Pork rinds would likely be found in the same aisle as chips and such.
For some reason I suspect few if any Walmarts that sell meat decline to sell ham, pork chops, and pork roasts.
BTW, H2BM, if life ever takes you to India and you get a hankering for meat, eat at a halal restaurant. They are much more likely to know how to handle and cook meat properly. At non-halal restaurant, well, you may acquire a pet parasite and have a multi-month recovery time.

If there was a way to see the Taj Majal and be in and out of the country fast enough without eating, I'd do it. Otherwise, I won't ever go to India (or Pakistan). No reason.
