Title: House Intel Chair: US Friendship With Russia May Not Be Possible
Post by: HAPPY2BME on January 08, 2017, 11:37:23 AM
House Intelligence Chair Rep. Devin Nunes said Sunday he's not sure "if it's possible" for the United States and Russia to be friends.

In an interview with "Fox News Sunday," the California Republican said it's understandable that President-elect Donald Trump is seeking a good relationship with Moscow.

"He wouldn’t be the first president to want to be buddies with [Russia] President [Vladimir] Putin," Nunes said.

California Rep. Adam Schiff, the committee's ranking Democrat, also told CNN it'd be great if Russia could be an ally, but, "It's not realistic and we need to be clear eyed and sober about just what the Russians are about."

Trump has been hit by critics – including some Republicans – for pushing a closer relationship with Putin.

"We would like to be friends with the Russians I just don’t know if it’s possible," Nunes said.

Nunes has previously questioned the likelihood of a Russia reset and told the Washington Examiner he's afraid Trump will make the same mistakes as the past two presidents in his dealings with Russia, who both attempted to start fresh with Moscow.

Graham Calls Republicans Celebrating Russian Interference a ‘Political Hack’ — ‘You’re Not a Patriot’

by Pam Key8 Jan 20170

Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said any Republican celebrating Russia’s hacking into the 2016 presidential election were “making a huge mistake” and described them as a “political hack.”

Graham said, “To my Republican friends who are gleeful, you’re making a huge mistake. When  Wikileaks released information during the Bush years about the Iraq War that was embarrassing to the administration, that put our troops at risk most Democrats condemned it, some celebrated it. Most Republicans are condemning what Russia did and to those who are gleeful it you’re a political hack. You’re not a Republican and you’re not a patriot.”

He added, “When one party is compromised all of us are compromised. And here’s what I’m going to do with Senator McCain, we will introduce sanctions that are bipartisan that go beyond the sanctions today against Russia that will hit them in the financial sector and the energy sector where they’re the weakest. And we’re going to give President Trump an opportunity to make Russia pay a price for interfering in our elections so it will deter others in the future. I hope you will take advantage of it.”

The problem here is that Graham leans to the personal vendetta approach to politics when it comes to Trump so anything he says has to be taken with a grain of salt due to his biases.

Graham can suck-start a sewage pump.  Some of the stuff he said about individual rights during his thankfully-brief campaign shows who the real Fascist in the herd was, that gay-sounding fartbag is an embarrassment to America...in addition to being on the McCain Obama/NeoCon train and its core belief of 'Let's overthrow every Arab government and blindly hope they all turn into Western-style democracies, even if that has never ever happened in the entire history of US foreign policy.'

Henry Kissinger said it best:

Nations do not have "friends."  They have interests.

Maybe it's just me, but I would rather amiable relations with the Russians than bowing and kowtowing ti Muslim enemies like Obama has done for 8 years.

We at least have some common human interests with Russia, we have nothing in common with Islam.

One of which is stopping radical Islam.

Yes, and that has been taught in military officer staff and command schools from his day.  Unfortunately, outside the Foreign Service and the armed forces, nobody else seems to bother teaching it.

There is no "friendship" with Russia, not as it stands.

You can, however, have an understanding with with them. They typically only respond to one thing, at that is power.
Ideologies aside, Russia acts in it's own best interests, as should we. You don't give them anything without getting something in return.
The last few presidents have made this mistake.
We can have, and should strive for neutral relations with them, but ever expecting an ally or "friendship" is fool hearty. We are talking about communists here... only one rung up from the bottom of the ladder where islam resides.
