Post by: Wineslob on August 07, 2008, 03:12:27 PM
Well, after a month of being back I finally got my wife to e-mail me some pics of our trip. Of course she send pics of me and the kidlet. I'll get more "scenic" pics up later, plus the few underwater ones that actually turned out.

Kathryn and myself along the Napali coast.

One of the better sunsets from the bluff at the condo complex we stayed at. Most were not nearly as colorful as what we usually see in the spring or fall.

I'll get some more posted in the next week, wer'e going camping tomorrow so I wont be around until Monday.

We mostly snorkled at Secret Beach. Once we did go to Tunnels, but the entire time we were there, the trades were so strong (see first pic) there was a rip running through the reef. For some reason Secret was much better than Tunnels.
The old hotel is completely fenced off, and they dont even have the donkeys in the grove anymore.
We drove to the canyon, and I did the heli tour back in 94', I get really air sick in those things. We did, however, do the flume. That was fun.

Princeville was our main stomping grounds, thats where the condo was near (The Cliffs)

I have been to Kauai many times.  It is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world.

My first trip to Hawaii, I went there -- the first morning, I enjoyed a beautiful double rainbow -- like bars of color -- from my lanai.  I sat there enjoying my Kona coffee for probably 2 or 3 hours while watching the rainbow slowly dissolve.

The fragrance alone still stays with me.   My wife loves it as much as I do.

Did you take the helicopter ride through Waimaia Canyon?  That is also fabulous.

After my Bahamas trip in October, I will go back to Kauai.

Thank you for reminding me of Paradise.

:)

The Coco Palms is in the planning stages of being turned into condos and a smaller hotel.  It's about time.  It is a sin to let that place sit so long without someone loving it back to health.

I stayed in a timeshare condo across the street from there a few years ago -- it saddened me every time I saw it.

The Palms is pretty much trash. Even the roof is beginning to rot and cave-in.......

More pics in the next few days.

Sad. Sad. Sad.

No one can tell me why it was left to rot.  Everything is fixable.
