Obama Pledges ‘Total Equality’ for Same-Sex Families
(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), who has studiously avoided coming out in full support of same-sex marriage, may have finally tipped his hand on how he really feels.
In recent letters written to homosexual activist groups, the presumed Democratic nominee said he supports homosexual couples adopting babies. Further, he said, he wants to repeal the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which defines marriage as being between one man and one woman – and forbids states from being forced to accept any other definition of marriage under the U.S. Constitution’s Full Faith and Credit Clause.
In an Aug. 1 letter to a Boston-based homosexual rights group, the Family Equality Council, Obama specifically pledged to use the presidency to overturn DOMA – and pledged his support for homosexual “families†and efforts to totally redefine marriage.
He wrote: “... (W)e also have to do more to support and strengthen LGBT (Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgendered) families. Because equality in relationship, family, and adoption rights is not some abstract principle; it’s about whether millions of LGBT Americans can finally live lives marked by dignity and freedom.
BHO just took yet another step to the left. :whatever:

Interesting wording and approach. I was looking for a flip flop and couldn't really find it. But it's more vague than his prior positions which is probably about as bad as it can be taken to mean more or less than what it really says.

Hey, what a great idea, now everyone who has health insurance through their job gets to subsidize the protracted and expensive AIDS issues of their fellow employees' "partners" who liked their gay butt sex a little too risky.

Funny how same sex "marriage" came up about the same time AIDs did....

I've been screaming that for ever and no one seems to believe me. It's not about marriage, they couldn't care less, it's about milking the system for as much free stuff as they can get. They're (AIDS sufferers) probably the biggest SS medicaid/medicare expense out there now.

I have never bought the marriage for recognition thing.
I don't think AIDs is that big a medicare matter at this point but there are a number of homosexuals who have SS and Medicare on the not too distant horizon so thats why there is this furious push the last some odd years.

I'm just repeating the gossip I've heard.... I know for a fact/personally 2 people in my small town with full blown AIDS. One came home from San Fransissyco 15 years ago to die. He's still here and has been getting SSDI and medicaid all that time. He has been in and out of the hospital several times and takes a fist full of pills everyday. That's the facts of one case but here's what I've been told. That since he is considered "terminally ill", if he was married (had a legal significate other), she/he/it could draw up to $1800 a month from SS as primary care giver.

Employer health coverage is one of the few family-fostering benefits employers provide, this attempt by the homos to horn in on the chowline and freeload is going to kill it eventually and make a guaranteed (Government supported) national health insurance an inevitability for mainstream families to be able to afford health coverage. Tney're pulling us down the rathole after them.

I totally agree. ....now find a politician that'll stand up and say that.

I have no doubt that there are such cases, just pointing out that we're on the leading edge of that particualr tidal wave as opposed to in the middle of it.

The cards, unfortunately, are all stacked the other way for the pols. Sympathy for the pooooor terminal fudgepackers, stake of the uninsured/uninsurable and some special interests in national health coverage, and gay lobby $$$ and hysterical denouncement all militate against anyone standing up to talk about the diffuse interest of the actually-employed-and-covered workers with families.
