Arkansas Legislators File Resolutions For Convention Of States To Reign In U.S. Government

LITTLE ROCK (KFSM) — This month, Arkansas lawmakers in the House and Senate filed two resolutions that call for a convention of states for the purpose of proposing amendments that would impose restrictions on the federal government.

The resolutions specifically list imposing fiscal restrains on the federal government, limiting the power and jurisdiction of the federal government and limiting the terms of office for government officials and members of the U.S. Congress. The resolutions also state the federal government has ceased to operate under a proper interpretation of the U.S. Constitution and it is the state’s duty to protect its people.

States can call for a convention of the states under Article V of the U.S. Constitution, but it has never happened before.

The portion of Article V many are most familiar with is Congress’ power to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution, which has been done 27 times, but Article V also gives that same power to the states.

In order for the states to hold a convention, two-thirds (34) of them must pass an application for a convention to propose amendments, then the states choose delegates and any amendments passed during the convention will have to be ratified the same way a congressional amendment would be ratified.

"Rein" is actually the word they're looking for there.  The one they used is a uniquely ironic malaprop.

The real test is whether the professional career Republican politicians , who are now at a historical advantage not seen in over 100 years (since the end of the Civil War) to actually STOP HIDING BEHIND THEIR PAYCHECKS and actually accomplish the Convention of States.

This is the LAST chance to do it.  It has to be done THIS year.

From what I've read, a COS would mean than the entire Constitution is fair game.

That is correct.  The dimrats were all prepared to have a triple majority and were going to do it this year.

The cards are stacked in favor of amending the Constitution now to PRESERVE it's original intent now as never before since the Constitution was written.  If 'conservatives' wait, they won't get another chance - ever.

What needs to be amended:

Birthright citizenship mandatory for ANY public office.

No automatic birthright citizenship for children born in the US to illegal aliens.

(Just for starters)

Remove almost all Federal departments and require the creation of any federal department subject to a 2/3 state approval "advice and consent" vote. Same for Executive Orders that affect laws or require funding.

Affirm that the Second Amendment gives private citizens a right to carry arms either openly or concealed for self-defense, against individuals or the government, in every state, territory, or city within the United States of America.  They must not be felons.

The right to carry arms in each and every state in the Union was the original intent of the 2nd Amendment.  It simply needs to be amended and FULLY WORDED to reflect it in all fifty states - including the right for CC.
