While in the interim Trump has the nuclear codes and the Repukes have the legislative branch.
We are so f**ked.

and there may only be a few thousand humans left.
Thanks, *Rump.

minimal, most have no governmental experience for starters. I don't see that as a badge of honor, but rather one of incompetence.

They'll take the whole 9/11 gambit further and further to the point of marshal law or something like it and suspend or delay the vote, or use the scenario to limit who may vote.

59. That might be, but the vote/die has been cast. Only an insurrection will change it now and I
doubt that is going to happen. Also, look at what happen to OWS. Also, consider this: "We've lost the Senate. We've lost the House. We've lost 935 state legislative seats since 2008, leaving 26 states fully under the control of the GOP -- meaning Republicans only need to consolidate power in a few more states to be able to amend the U.S. Constitution without Democratic input."

4. This pretty much sums it up.
I continue to feel despair (I know, "Despair is not an option''). There were several underlying reasons for my sadness in addition to the obvious points stated in the article: First, selfishly, I wanted to have a BREAK from worrying about the direction of my/our country and just enjoy some sanity and progress. I wanted NOT to worry about my kids and their future. Mostly, I don't quite trust us to mobilize and take America "back" from the evil that will lead us in January. I hope there are enough of us disgusted by what's happening right now. I said it in November, and I think it to this day as an older, white woman: Eventually, Millennials and people of color will save us from ourselves.

28. Yes, and I despair that I had foolishly dared to allow myself to *believe*--
not just hope, but actually BELIEVE--that we were almost *there,* almost home to that place where "Millenials and people of color will save us from ourselves." I am shocked at how far we have yet to go. I am already old, and had hoped to be able to enjoy the rest of my life with a little peace and security, but no, there are still many miles yet to walk and battles yet to fight. I know I have to wipe away my tears, shake off my despair, and rise up ready to fight. Again. But I am so weary. I had just wanted some peace and quiet.

5. How do so many Americans NOT perceive that Trump is insane...
Or, at best, lying his showboating ass off? I've really lost faith in trusting my fellow citizens to do the right thing when the chips are down.
As it stands, there is a major shitstorm coming. Anyone who doesn't grasp that fact is delusional.

Reagan and Bush were offensive. This one seems downright destructive and dangerous, on a global scale.
So of course the despondency is deep and widespread!
His victory also signifies something terribly wrong with our culture.

there is something else I feel, as a woman, that I didn't see mentioned in the snips posted here. I also despair that an unqualified sexual predator was "selected" over a highly qualified woman. I felt, and feel, slapped on the face, laughed at for having dared to hope, and shocked at how wrong I was about our social evolution. So, yeah, I am despondent about all the things mentioned in the article, and then, there's still another deeper layer of despair, of hopelessness and grief.

"It is understood that most Trump supporters are decent folks, many of whom have been left behind by changes in the global economy."
Understood by whom? I happen to know they are idiots. Every one of them I talked to are ignorant and stupid about politics and government in general, however they had plenty of warning from all sides of the media about trump and voted for him anyway. They gave up the moniker of "decent folks" when they did that and turned into accomplices of the destruction of our democracy. These decent folks comments make me sick.

That is understood by those who want to believe that BS. They are, by and large, racists with no feelings about anyone but the ascendancy of the white race and the subjugation of all who are not white....and racist. Make ameriKKKa great again.....yeah right!!!!!!!!!!! Oh I am troubled deeply by the hate that trumpfuhrer has released with his blessings. His whole campaign was down with the n***** and up with the whites. I am not fooled by this diversionary tactic of making trumpsupporters victims. Jerks need to get out there and get retrained and get their lazy asses off the couch watching foxsnooze lies. THEY ARE NOT DECENT PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. THEY ARE ANIMALS.

Much much more than she did. In the debates it would d have been nice. At least TRY to counter all the disinformation. For the life of me I cannot understand this. Modesty? Envy?
Why not shout these stats out every chance any Dem news guest had all through the primaries but especially in the general. If the MSM refused to point these things out for fear of losing their precious horse race, why didn't every Dem in reach of a mic remind people over and over?

70. It's a horrible feeling--anger, sadness, disbelief, disappointment, confusion
Too many emotions to sift through...
First, did he actually win or was there vote tampering? We know there was indirect tampering through voter suppression--throwing millions off the rolls, closing polling locations, faulty equipment, etc. But the media isn't talking about that... They don`t want to look as openly stupid as you dolts
On the other hand, if the win was legit, WHY? ! How could so many people be so ****ing stupid? It's mind boggling! You have no mind to boggle.
I also feel so much anger towards the media, who failed us miserably and still isn't doing their ****ing jobs correctly. The mask slips as far as what you want the media to openly be.
I'm angry that elected dems aren't raising hell right now.
I'm angry with the BoBers who still don't seem to have a clue!
I'm angry about the unfair and unrepresentative electoral college system.
And I feel despair because it appears that there's no bar that trump can't cross. He can do whatever the **** he wants. There are no checks or balances. An unfit jackass is about to seal all of our fates. He has a pen and a phone.

“What you’re watching is a man who realizes all of a sudden that like 90 percent of his legacy is going to disappear because he didn’t do the hard work of passing legislation, he didn’t reach out to the other side,” Gingrich said. “[Y]ou watch — starting the opening day when Trump starts to repeal all these executive orders, it’s going to be like one of those balloons that deflates. The Obama legacy is going to this, down to a core to 10 or 15 percent of what he originally did. The rest is all going to disappear within a year.”

Whatever Trump turns out to be, high hopes here, to see the evil witch clinton destroyed and having to realise she will never be President YAY.
Horsey, even though you think you can see the future through the crack behind you, you cannot.
To see the entire Democratic party being called out for their dishonesty and corruption then being slammed to the deck has given many of us great hope for the future.
On the other hand it has filled you with great despair.
That is wonderful.
You earned it.

Watching progressives struggle to process adverse election results is hilarious.
Thanks for the laughs, Horsey!
Wow, look at all these Trump supporters on the LA Times making justifications and rationalizing away all the awful hateful words and actions of Trump.
If what LA Times and its readers' comments are so offensive to the Trump supporters, why are these Trump supporters on this website, when they could easily goto alt right news sources like Breitbart news or Fox news?
Obviously to try to drown out any voice in opposition to Trump. Trump supporters like Trump try to denigrate and
now you know how we felt when that incompetent community organizer Obama was elected. Unfortunately, in 8 years he has just about wrecked the nation and the world as he was grossly unqualified to manage a McDonalds never mind the country.
We Trump voters could go off at any time, according to this article. It's so sad, but reading the comments here makes me happy. I guess knowing the shoe is now on the other foot has converted my own despair into a delightful form of Schadenfreude as I read the despair of those who thought to marginalize my concerns.
It's like endorphins. Endorphins make you happy, and now I am feeling what progressives felt for the past eight years.
Happy happy days.
The reason why the Looney Left is in despair is because America is DONE WITH THEM.
Socialists: DONE
Globalists: DONE
Progressives: DONE
Perpetually Aggrieved: DONE

The DUmmies always miss the bright side. Namely that nuclear winter from the inevitable worldwide nuclear war that PRESIDENT TRUMP will start will put an end to that pesky global warming.
Something else to cheer the libs up...
you know, sometimes I have to wonder if even skinner himself must look over his creation and think "wtf, why am I hanging out with these petulant morons"
Something else to cheer the libs up...And then something else for them to be a bit off about. :-) Even if its fake I'm sure a few of the DUmpsters will be distraught. :lmao:

Breaking News: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is RESIGNING From The Post of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court!!!!
She said she will resign if Trump was elected President, and now when he got elected, and with a month until the inauguration, she will be resigning.
The Supreme Court is in recess for the summer, but Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg took some time to reflect on its future composition, which will chiefly depend on who is elected president in November. Asked on Thursday about the prospect of Donald Trump being handed the job of selecting the next crop of justices, she seemed uneasy at the thought.

Hello all, this is Jukin's schadenboner here. Not only am I self aware but the LA times excerpts allowed me to grow arms, legs, toes, and fingers to be able to share my joy by keyboard to all decent and civilized people of the USA.
As my owner lives in the PRoC, I have applied for a drivers license and sent in my voter registration card. Things may change with an army of my sentient brothers here in the PRoC.
Every time a useless douchebag leftist cries a schadenboner gets its self awarness.

You and Flippydoo should get togeth ... errrrrrrr ... never mind.
This time it is different and, in my experience, unique. This is not simply a case of Hillary Clinton supporters being bad losers.
Yes it is
For most of those who feel traumatized by what happened on Nov. 8, this is not about the candidate who won the popular vote in California, Trump won the popular vote in 48 of 50 states , yet lost the election.
Yes it is
It is about the candidate who was picked as president by the electoral college on Monday per the United States Constitution. People are mourning because the fate of their country will now be in the hands of an intellectually disinterested, reckless, mendacious narcissist.
No, people are celebrating since this is the fate we AVOIDED!

In a post-election survey, the Public Policy Polling organization found that 67% of Trump voters think unemployment increased during Barack Obama’s presidency while only 20% know the opposite is actually true.
Though the stock market skyrocketed to record heights during the Obama years, 60% of those who voted for Trump either do not know it or do not believe it.
Forty percent of Trump voters also say their candidate won the popular vote, even though Clinton now leads in the count by nearly 3 million ballots.
Perhaps that is why friendly crowds at his victory rallies continue to cheer when Trump makes the obviously false claim that he won the election in a landslide.
They do not know better.
Let me improve your correction a little, f2003b:
