DU is adult

We went to our daughter's Holiday band concert tonight. Yes she's in middle school.

We had 30 minutes to kill.
I latch onto the county's WiFi in the school auditorium and try to log on to DU.
BLOCKED - the county has determined that DU is "adult".
Let's try to remember that and act like it.

3. It's because some shitwits on this site insist on swearing like mother****ing sailors.

Not me, of course.

I just really wanted to row over the most vacuous post of the day:

5. We are? Sometimes I wonder.

Good for your County!

I think we are, actually, but not all the time.

There's a lesson in that blocking...we need to learn, and remember.

:lmao:  derp.

I'm going to hijack my thread to bring you something old but really stupid (don't want to start a new thread just for this.)

What do I do to dispose of personal care products?

Again, I'm clearing out my father's home to sell it.

There are at least 20 half-used bottles of shampoo, conditioners, cologne, aftershave, etc.

I want to recycle the bottles but I don't feel I should pour the contents down the drain even with water filtration, etc. Nor do I think I should pour them outside. I'm not going to use them.

Do I just empty them into the garbage and recycle the bottles?

Thanks!

1. Tough call, available services vary by location.

In some parts of California, for example, waste disposal services might take them all and do the right thing.

Some cities might allow donation to shelters.

In no event should they go into the sewer or storm drain.

In most cases, however, it's probably best to dump them in a landfill, unless they are petroleum or solvent based, in which case they present a special hazard.

Good on you for wanting to know and wanting to recycle the containers, at least.

Under no circumstances should you be pouring shampoo and conditioner down the drain!!!!!  Call in a HAZMAT team!!!  :lmao:

:lmao: Sounds like "underpants" tried to gin up some outrage and got brought up short by a couple of honest DU-members. :lmao:

I suspect that the school wifi set-up blocks all kinds of sites - probably including CC. Different businesses and orgs have their various reasons. At my previous employer I couldn't access You Tube - bandwidth consumption - or FB or GMail (security).

Which is precisely why I don't ever use the web browser at work for anything but legitimate work anymore.  I've heard stories mostly from management & IT about the crap they have canned people for.  I've felt guilty in the past for looking at common sites like ESPN & checking mail.

Well, for funzies... I put kos and DU manually in the "pornography" categorization on all of our site edge content filtering devices... so when anyone tries to access them, they get this splash screen in huge block letters stating "YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO ACCESS A PORNOGRAPHY WEBSITE, PLEASE CONTACT A SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR"

What the dummie didn't pick up on is "adult" means just that. The admin at the school put DU in the porn/inappropriate category.. haha

well... not quite the same.
I don't pick the content that gets blocked, out paying clients do.. on a per-client basis. Whatever they want. We are their internet provider so it's not up to us. Monst of them do pay for content filtering though and they maintain the list of what they want.
I can, however, name it whatever I want so I get to have my fun at least

WDM satirizes it correctly. As long as Pitt and other DU-members are addicted to F-bombs and similar crudities, DU is an "adult" site.

I was referring to a Conservative Cave classic, the self-destruction of DU's own DainBramaged,  Doug Bulna, whom we dubbed the Jersey Walrus. He blocked FNC from the TV at his place of employment, hid the remote, then bragged about it. Karma caught up with him, with some help from certain quarters  :-) and he was fired.

We still proudly display that walrus pelt on the wall of the Cave.

The Jersey Walrus, wherever he is, would bow to you... at least as much as a walrus could.

Well, DainBramaged chose to block content HE didn't like. I'm only blocking content clients tell me to. I do, however, categorize it in a certain way so a certain message is displayed for the end user who attempts to access it.
After thinking on this, I do see some unfortunate similarities in the fine details of the wallDUDe incident though.
All things aside, his goal was a snarky subliminal message... and it looks as if I'm inadvertently guilty of the same behavior here.
It was intended to humor myself and a few colleagues, but I don't think I thought this all the way through back when i did it... we were just having a laugh out of it.

Not meaning to hijack a thread, but it got me thinking...
I don't like being a hypocrite and it looks as if I painted myself into that corner.

The DUmmie that wrote this obviously never thought about where the products go during/after normal use.

Maybe due to lack of that sort of experience? :rimshot: :bolt:

Hijacking threads is quite common and encouraged!

Well, patchouli oil in those amounts could potentially clog up the wastewater equipment.
