I see a great paradox in what I think Trump's leadership role and style will be.
He's going to delegate just about all matter of intricate policy to his subordinates, namely Mike Pence and his cabinet. So all the nitty gritty details are going to be determined by those guys.
This is going to be because deep down Trump knows he doesn't know much about policy nor does he care to know much about policy. He finds it boring and beneath him.
On the other hand, this does not mean he's going to be a weak figurehead (in the way I viewed George W. Bush in relation to Cheney). His pathologically narcissistic ego is going to insist he gets full credit and attention as leader, and that all decisions made under him are attributed directly to him.
So he'll solicit ideas from his Cabinet but he'll have the last say as to whether he actually follows them. This could vary day to day what he thinks his position should be, how flattered he feels by the person providing the advice, and how it fits into his extremely simplified worldview. It might even depend on his daily mood (this a guy who uses his daily mood to determine what color hat he wears) or whether or not he actually likes the person giving the advice or feels slighted by them.
His decision making is going to be extremely trivial and superficial but he will still make known that he is in charge. And even though others are attempting to make the decisions for him at his initial request, he's going to demand the final say, ineptitude and all.
This could lead to some dissention and hostility between him and certain members of the administration down the road, but Trump's going to be so in love with the fact that his name is in the news as the most powerful leader in the world, no way is he going to voluntarily relinquish his position.
This all is unprecedented in US history and could get quite worrisome especially if we see a downturn in our economic and/or national security positions.

Indeed! Or like a naval ship, where the executive officer is in charge of the daily operations, and the captain directs what the ship does.
A good President understands that (s)he doesn't know everything and lacks the bandwidth to direct everything done by everyone in his government. A good President "hires" excellent people who, among them, do have all the necessary knowledge and expertise.
A poor President can't acknowledge their limitations, and tries to micro-manage everything - like Carter.
A lousy President "hires" lackeys whose principle goal is to keep their President in office, and hope they don't do too much harm in their nominal duties - like WJC. A horrible President can't handle his peeps being smarter or better than him/her in any way, and "hires" incompetents. And the amount of harm done depends on what happens in the rest of the world - like Obama.

Kind of like Borok Obozo, you mean, the guy who insisted upon taking all the credit and none of the blame for anything.
I kid, I kid; Trump isn't going to be anything like Bozo about-to-leave-the-White-House.

A good manager is the one that finds 10 good people to to the jobs that need to be done.

In sum, the root of T_C's "paradox" is in his imagination and ignorance of leadership of any kind.
