Oh my.
For the record, Whole Foods is something franksolich never heard of, until the primitives started talking about it.
We just have regular run-of-the-mill supermarkets out here.

Hard Times for Whole Foods
Income Falls as Whole Foods Suspends Dividend
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: August 5, 2008
Whole Foods Market Inc., the natural foods grocer, said Tuesday that its third-quarter net income dropped more than 30 percent largely because of costs associated with its proposed acquisition of Wild Oats and an economic slowdown that has hurt consumer spending.
Its shares sank in after-hours trading as the company also drastically lowered its outlook for 2009, suspended its dividend and said it would open fewer stores next year.
“We are committed to improving our financial results and believe these proactive steps are necessary to manage through the current challenging environment,†the chief executive John Mackey said in a statement.
The company earned $33.9 million, or 24 cents a share, for the three months ended July 6, down from $49.1 million, or 35 cents a share, in the same quarter a year ago. It estimated that the purchase of Wild Oats was responsible for a $4.9 million, or 3 cents a share, impact on the net income.
Whole Foods reported revenue of $1.84 billion for the quarter, up from $1.51 billion in the previous year.
The results fell short of Wall Street’s expectations, as analysts polled by Thomson Financial had expected a profit of 31 cents a share on revenue of $1.9 billion. ......(more)

It's only a moderate bonfire, but really not worth copying-and-pasting. First, the primitives discuss the apparent fact that "natural foods" establishments seem to have a problem with rats, and then the primitives discuss the aesthetic qualities of Paris, after which bashing of Whole Foods is resumed.

27. Whole Foods is just too damned expensive
There are many other alternatives if you really want to shop for organics and other "whole" foods. These guys just tried to make a boutique experience out of eating properly, and it's bitten them on the ass.
And at the end of the bonfire, the Fat Che in the punchbowl:

29. I love how DUers always say they're poor and then will make a point of saying they shop at Whole Foods. Anyone who has the ability to shop at Whole Foods on a regular basis is rich.
Anybody here shop at Whole Foods? Suppose it's as good as Jack & Jill?

H*ll no. It's expensive and filled with hippies and yuppies. Besides I just bust out laughing when I see signs that say "organic food". Is there an "inorganic food" section? :-)

Kroger, Bi-Lo, and every now and then, Food Lion and Publix.
-
Whole Foods has some great specialty stuff, if you need it - but for everyday shopping? Not really.
Their prices are inflated because they have so many social programs set up for their employees - like they pay for college and all types of things that the regular grocery store doesnt. But the employees do own part of the business. I dont find their produce any better than Safeway's but their meats and seafood are typically a better quality. Granted, I rarely, if ever, shop there..

Snark is right. Whole Foods is a specialty store, catering SPECIFICALLY to college educated, upper income individuals. i don't believe they have ever hid the fact of what their niche is. Trader Joe's is far more practical for someone on a budget.

i LOVE Trader Joe's! Just wish our local store was bigger than it is - its about the size of a convenience store here ..

Ours isn't much bigger. They do that on purpose to keep costs low. No frills. I tried some of their coffee the other day...to.die.for!
I like them too. I got quite a few things with a bill of 35 bucks the other day. And I had a mix of produce, cheese, breads, and a big honking bottle of olive oil in there.

Fine, then by that standard, you DUmmies should boycott the damn place. :whatever:

Not unless they have a "Salt aisle."
:lmao:
On edit - or the bottled water section, I suppose...

For as much as the DUmbasse bitch and moan about how expensive food (& everything else) they spend zero effort to find bargains.
P.S. Does Whole Foods accept Food Stamps?

My wife and I shop there - it's pretty big here in Colorado (more so the closer you get to People's Republic of Boulder, go figure). She's allergic to cow's milk, and it's the best source of goats milk available - until we get a couple of goats, that is.

Yup, I have two very favorite grocery stores: Winco and Trader Joe's. Besides just about every grocery store has organic produce, meats, etc. There's absolutely NO reason to shop at Whole Foods.

Milady, Whole Foods is probably a big contributor to moonbats and their causes. Hence, the allegiance to Whole Foods.

I shop at Wally World.........

We shop at Grocery Outlet. Going to Safeway, Raleys, or any of the other "Big Boys" is just too much sticker shock.
Organic is a joke and a ripoff.
