8. I posted about the change in tone at DU and missing old timers.

Will, matcom, Skittles, others.

Don't see them around much any more.

I don't come here as often as I used to.

There are many new participants and I think the demographics (or something) has changed.

It's sure not the same place I found here 4 or 5 years ago.

From the carpetbagging maternal ancestress:

9. He's around...probably lurking some. He and his SO are getting ready to move to another apartment (in the same building) and I know he's writing. His SO is a fabulous young woman who was diagnosed with MS last Fall. She is doing fine, better than fine, but it's been an adjustment and a learning curve for both of them. I figure he's getting his second wind over the summer before the real fun begins. He'll be back to haunt us all.

And to embarrass and humiliate his mother.

Seriously though, he might have noticed how this board has turned into Whackadoodle Environazi Anti-fun Nutritio-snob Conspiracy Theory Nutjob Hyperbole Spewer Underground and left. I don't blame him.

Probably tied up with doing a couple of hundred hours of public service after a DUI arrest, or something of the sort.

You know, it seems to me the Bostonian Drunkard doesn't drive.

In his thousands of posts on Skins's island, I've never seen a reference to him driving.

Maybe he does, and I just didn't see the revelation.

I'm still trying to figure out why, even though 37 years old, the Bostonian Drunkard can't get the wealth his maternal grandfather left him; the Bostonian Drunkard's on a pretty tight leash, when it comes to accessing that.  Can trust funds be set up so that even if one's an adult, he can't just take the money and run?

They can be set up all kinds of ways.  We have a friend who comes from a very wealthy family.  Her stepdad died back in the early 1980s and this woman's two sons still can't touch the principal in their trusts.  They are also very limited on what can be withdrawn (and why) each year from the earnings.

One of the sons is in his late fifties.  The other one is in his early fifties.  We aren't talking children here.

edit to add:  the way it is structured, I think the entire estate becomes theirs in 2013, or 31 years after the old man's death.
