Come on, Skins, old pal old friend old chum. It's long past time.
-
Skins is a liberal: a lazy good for nothing at heart.
-
Just like Hillary, the cash cow has dried up. Figuring out his next con job.
-
Is the gungeon still in operation behind the paywall?
-
Come on skinner, let the good times roll!
-
He is already open for business. When it tapers off, then he will let everyone else in.
CMD
-
Until he sees star purchases dry up.
-
Hanukkah, because JOOOOOOOOS!

I think it'll probably be toward the end of this week, the closest answer to that was 'Next week,' so I went with that. As for DI, it all depends on what Skins was making on the ad revenue; if it was negligible, then maybe never. If it was actually paying some bills, then probably next month.
-
Our buddy Skins is about to join the victims of the Obama economy, albeit later than I would have hoped. The cash cow has dried up and in the new spirit of the democrat party futility trying to re-connect with the people they have been insulting for the last eight years there is no way that the democrat party is going to fund and/or permit a concentrated display of utter stupidity.
Skins may try to keep it going but I think that DU ends up as a "pay to play" safe space for moonbats and Skins and Shelly are going to have to re-think their lifestyle. Of course, Skins could end up as a kept man while Shelly brings home the bacon???

With every passing day, I'm becoming more and more dubious that Skins's island is ever going to resurface; I'm no longer holding my breath.

Keeping it closed helps his income stream from the DUmmies for membership (But with no minimum to become a paid member, and the DUmmies are nothing if not cheap)but is killing his hit count, which directly affects the ad revenue. It'll be a money-driven decision as to which is more important, but of course only Skins has the actual numbers at hand to determine which way it breaks. My comments are simply my own idle speculation based on the obvious decision framework he faces.

I e-mailed earl about DI. I got a response that said DI was NOT hacked, just DU, but they are both on the same server and use some of the same software, so DI is not going to be back up until they can confirm that DU is stable.

Interesting, thanks for the info!

To reappear on the island even as a star member you had to input the email you registered under and then get a temporary password to log in and then reset the password to something you want.
A useful tool to cross check against passwords at DI as well as to refresh the email list that will be for sale again.

It takes a week (or more) to "confirm that DU is stable"? What'd they do? Kill some of their generator-driving squirrels to relight and stoke the boilers of their steampunk forum software?

DU was never stable...
-
DU was never stable...
True, and H-5. But I was referring to their steampunk squirrel-powered forum SW.
-
My bet is that he will milk them as long as he can. Right now he is probably been adding star members like crazy, that influx will soon slow. When it does he will open it back up to everyone.
The fate of DI is still unknown, I haven't seen him address it yet.
-
Isn't having to have a star to enter the Island the same as a legal restriction to enter a country?
-
If you look at the raw HTML of their pages, they have TONS of shit in there devoted to ads and ad revenue. If he's not getting hits, those pennies aren't coming in.
-
I recall in several threads a long time ago that DU should close public viewing and make out exclusively private.
-
David Allen Moskwa still knows that he is dealing with lunatics so don`t be surprised if the next wave of members will be those with a certain post count so he can let a fresh batch of them vent their rage and threats of violence.

Part of Skins' calculation has to be the fact than many members will, as time passes, go to other places - like DK, MMfA, or TP - and get settled in. If he waits too long, they may never come back.
-
The DUmmies have to provide more info to post on Skin's Island than is necessary to vote in many blue shitholes.
Oddly, none of them seem to be complaining. Odd, that.
-
Skinner will reopen DUmmieland in just 24 business hours.

Indeed.

It's 12 noon CST, so Skins only has four more business hours to uphold his promise of opening the DUmp up to the general rabble on Tuesday.
Well, come on, Skins. Make a promise, keep a promise.

From the comments section at the Daily Kossacks (re: Skin's being down):
Their IT people do not sound very impressive.
Well, of course they don't. Skins is a dead ringer for child molester Subway Jared, that dipshit Elad is virtually indistinguishable from a head of broccoli, and the other guy is just as much of a clown.
-
I wonder if Skins has his crack team of IT experts scrubbing the server of any links to Comet Ping Pong?
-
I think it was all really stupid, both Skins and Jim Robinson of freerepublic.
There was never at any time any need to have Elad (in the case of Skins's island) and Jack or Joe or Jerry or whatever his name is, the son of Jim Robinson (in the case of freerepublic) to waste any time designing a unique message board format.
They could've just as easily swiped SMF or somesuch other software and used that. And because such are in common use, if there's a problem, it'd be easy to get the solution.
These are the sorts of idiots who instead of buying a car off the assembly-line in Detroit, insist upon "custom-making" their own vehicle, including the screws and nuts and bolts--and then when the thing breaks down, well, nobody has replacement parts on their shelves.
I just never got it; why was it so vitally important to have one's unique one-of-a-kind format? What does standard stuff that's available lack that Skins's island and freerepublic don't have?

Hey Frank - which one of the DUmp brain trust was trying to turn his cat into a vegetarian?
-
Who in their right mind would buy a star to a site that had just been hacked and credit card date compromised? (Don't answer. It's Rhetorical.)
-
I am not too sure if DU was hacked. I call BS on it. :bs:
Probably by Christmas or even never. It is closed off to only Star Members.
-
Hey Frank - which one of the DUmp brain trust was trying to turn his cat into a vegetarian?
That is animal cruelty!
-

That was the elusive enigmatic Elad, the computer pro.

That was the elusive enigmatic Elad, the computer pro.
I thought so.
So THAT is who is trying to get the DUmp put back together...an IDIOT who thinks that cats can be vegetarians, and posted on the DUmp for suggestions on how to MAKE his cat into a vegan.
-
I thought so.

That was so long ago I'm surprised anyone remembered it.

Hey, if he's stupid enough to want to make a cat vegan, maybe they were hacked after all...by a 9 year old.

The DUMP is up.

You and your facts! :rotf:

Think of it as Poster ID. :rimshot: :bolt:

As soon as the DU Troika can get their financial arrangement with Soros' Tides Foundation, they will be back up. Next Monday.
