Is there anyone doing anything to stop this travesty?
Is there nothing anyone can do?
No one can dispute that there is a conflict of interest on several fronts with the Donald Trump family and businesses.
Yesterday, Trump invited the Japanese Prime Minister to meet with him in a gold-plated room in the Trump Mansion. There was no State Department input, as far as we know. Fortunately, there was no international incident, but there could have been. Ivanka Trump sat in on the meeting.
And President Trump is going to put his businesses into a "blind trust" run by his family?
Trump thinks it is all a game. Players are rushed in and out as if it is Presidential Apprentice. With the Donald, it is always about a competition.
First, he was permitted to be elected without showing his income tax returns. He kept saying that they were "under audit" every time he was asked about them.
He was permitted to continue with his campaign of hatred and division, even as his business dealings with unfriendly nations were kept secret and undercover, even though it was reported on occasion that he had borrowed large amounts from the Russian and the Chinese banks. He had very close ties to the Russian leaders.
These conflict of interests are still there today and nobody does anything. It appears that America is not going out with a bang but without even a whimper.
You are still dumber then dirt.

7. Here's where this ends ...
When the first state legislature seriously votes on secession. Yes, it's that bad. The America we knew is over.

10. Doing what? We don't really have a mechanism for dealing with an inept, egocentric, lying crook...
being elected as President. The opposition has always liked to call whoever gets elected all sorts of names and make accusations, but this time it's true.
This is, btw, why the Electoral College exists-- in case the rabble **** up and elect an asshole. Not that it will actually do its job in this case, but that was the idea. And if they didn't trust the populace when just male, white property owners voted. Imagine what they would have come up with looking at today's voting population. Maybe they were on to something-- it seems white males are a large part of the problem this year.
If the past is any guide, if and when things get worse nobody, from the Klan to Bernie Bros, will take responsibility for putting this piece of crap in office. First, they won't admit there's a problem, even if it hits them personally, and when finally against the wall then they will beg off their personal responsibility for not voting to keep him out. It will still be a point of pride and honor to have not voted for Hillary. Try not to hit them when they say that.
It's going to be a lot of work, but all we can do is support any media or organizations keeping his daily ****ups public. Energize your local Democratic Party, make the Greens less of a joke, support a free press... And look for good people to run as Democrats in the future. I know personally that it's damn difficult to get anyone to run, much less good candidates, but we have to try. Somewhere in the background of all this is campaign finance reform.
Demonstrations in front of Trump Tower aren't going to do shit-- working on Medicare and SS recipients to vote out Republicans in two years won't be easy, but it will work. Working on families who take their kids to national parks can work, too.
No it wasn`t.

13. It will take time to mount a really forceful opposition
I'm sure that the people I trust (mostly the dems.) are working very hard on this. I will do everything in my power to suppport them. This will include monetary donations.
Too bad about that 2nd Amendment thing huh?

Say goodbye to your social security and Medicare and your healthcare. It all belongs to them now.
Just yours to start. :yahoo:

Stop his inauguration.
There is but one chance left I know about and that is the electoral college vote on Dec. 19th.
The impotent rage of a nobody is funny.

No. Its a thing call a democracy. People vote for their leaders. sometimes you LOSE. Most people can deal with losing, you obviously are not mature enough for that.
Is there nothing anyone can do?
Yeah. Its called, "Suck it up, Buttercup." Real men have something you don't have. It is called a "Spine." Spines allow for men to stand tall in victory or defeat. Real men do not make helpless whiny posts like, Can anyone stop this travesty?" Real men can accept defeat with grace.
and that is what we have learned here today, Kentuck is not a real man.

1.) Is there nothing anyone can do?
...
2.) Yesterday, Trump invited the Japanese Prime Minister to meet with him in a gold-plated room in the Trump Mansion. There was no State Department input, as far as we know. Fortunately, there was no international incident, but there could have been. 3.) Ivanka Trump sat in on the meeting.
4.) And President Trump is going to put his businesses into a "blind trust" run by his family?
5.) Trump thinks it is all a game. Players are rushed in and out as if it is Presidential Apprentice. With the Donald, it is always about a competition.
6.) First, he was permitted to be elected without showing his income tax returns.
1.) "They" did. "They" elected Trump President. Deal with it.
2.) So what? Trump is the President-elect. Deal with it.
3.) So what? Ivanka Trump is the daughter of the President-elect. Deal with it.
4.) So what? Would an electric pencil sharpener give you a point?
5.) So what? Trump is the President-elect. He's assembling his Administration. He wants the best who are available and willing. If that's "competition" it's a good thing! Try to get a point. Otherwise, deal with it.
6.) So what? He had no legal obligation to provide Hill's Media Shills a lake for their predictable fishing expedition. Deal with it.

Fortunately, there was no international incident, but there could have been. Ivanka Trump sat in on the meeting.
What's kt suggesting? That the Japanese PM might have hit on Ivanka and gone too far? Forcing Ivanka to mop up the floor with him?

Dog whistle! Dog whistle! kt is calling for a deployment of Washington Monument Syndrome!
I have heard that Ivanka speaks fluent Japanese.
So she was more than a very intelligent co-hostess? I'm sure kt is equal to the task of re-spinning that fact into something nefarious or "illegal".

I still think this is the funniest thread of the day. "Oh can't someone, somewhere do something about this????" :panic: It's such classic DU. Impotent helplessness. Denial of reality.
And that "rushing people in and out" that Kentuck thinks is so outrageous for some reason. It's call job interviewing. Try some sometime.

How much money did the Japanese prime minister have to slip Donald Trump for the privilege of meeting his daughter and him?
Oh, yeah, DUmmy. Try none. That's a Clinton thing.

Apparently kentuck isn't aware that the Kochs gave Trump exactly zero support.
And the political power the KKK yields is about equal to that of The Dump - zero, possibly negative.

Um, the electoral college exists to keep the population centers from dictating to the entire nation, so you're wrong there.
But look on the bright side, the electoral college actually will keep the rabble from electing an asshole this time around.

Yeah, that's never happened before.
Oh, wait. Except for that time that candidate Obama went to France, Germany (and tried to pretend he was Reagan), Israel, and Jordan, and met with leaders of each of those countries. Oh, and the time that he met with nine other world leaders two days after the 2008 election. None of these with any State Department input.
But that's different. Somehow. It just is. :whatever:
-
...he was permitted to...
He was permitted to...
So, he's saying Obama just stood there and did nothing and let it happen.
Is Ken Tuck-under calling Obama an indolent black man? :fuelfire:

I have it on good authority that Trump told a bit of an Obama-Tale when it came to his tax returns. While they are under audit that is not the real reason that he didn't release them. The real reason that he didn't release them is that they are trapped in the same safe where Obama keeps his own school records and other background info.

If she can truly speak Japanese, that's a pretty big feat being yet another secondary language for someone.
I recently started the program trying to learn Japanese. It's one of the more difficult ones I've explored.

For English speakers many Asian languages are among the most difficult to learn. Being faced with the fact that Trump's daughter is quite intelligent would be quite a systemic shock to kt and many other DU-folk.
