These 3 maps show just how dominant Republicans are in America after Tuesday
These 3 maps show just how dominant Republicans are in America after Tuesday

Results are still trickling in, but it looks like Republicans will still control an all-time high 69 of 99 state legislative chambers. They'll hold at least 33 governorships, tying a 94-year-old record.
That means that come 2017, they'll have total control of government in at least 25 states, and partial control in 20 states. According to population calculations by the conservative group Americans for Tax Reform, that translates to roughly 80 percent of the population living in a state either all or partially controlled by Republicans.

Democrats had their own successes: They flipped the New Mexico and Alaska statehouses from red to blue and managed to retake both of Nevada's chambers. They expanded their majorities in chambers in California, Washington and New York. And they are on the verge of knocking off a Republican governor in North Carolina -- one of the hardest feats to pull off in politics. In two other states that Donald Trump won big (Montana and West Virginia), they held onto the governorship.

1. Well the good news (I think) will be the races in 2018.
Usually the Govs, legislatures, and House seem to reverse course versus the party in the Oval office in the off-seasons.
Wrong.

3. our senate map in 2018 looks pretty grim
quite a few Democrats in swing states who won in 2012 are up for re-election in 2018, very few vulnerable Republicans
See?

My goodness, I didn't think it would ever be this much fun watching them wallow in misery.
Thank you America!

Man, you got that right. What a wonderful holiday season, coming up.
Just wonderful.

They act like a Democrat being governor of North Carolina is a feat, yet the Democrats had it from 93-2013.

Well gees, it must really suck to be a DUmmy.

I'm sitting back and simply enjoying the results of the election. This is a huge setback for the dems and I'm enjoying every second of it.

Well let me drive the dagger into the dems/dummies chest a little bit more:
WV picked up GOP seats in both houses of the legislature. Now as for the Governor... well Jim Justice is a dem. He owns coal companies. Lots of coal companies. How he made his millions. :rotf: Back in the day business owners had to be Dem to operate in WV.
Justice also bought the Greenbriar Resort when they went bankrupt and turned it around. Got the PGA to do a golf tourney there.
Justice ran on stopping obumbles, dems and the DC establishment war on coal. Supported Trump. His ads said that he would support Trump and globull warming is bull. Got southern WV in a major way. That is typical dem union coal country.
Are we starting to see a pattern here dummies? Losing the rust belt ring a bell, dummies? You are looking like a regional party now. Too bad it is all the big cities. Gives you an advantage, yes, but there are far more states that are not rabid libs than you think.

That was interesting IBP. Thanks for that. But you had me at "let me drive the dagger..." :lmao:
