Trump Picks Top Climate Skeptic to Lead EPA Transition
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/trump-picks-top-climate-skeptic-to-lead-epa-transition/
Choosing Myron Ebell means Trump plans to drastically reshape climate policies
Donald Trump has selected one of the best-known climate skeptics to lead his U.S. EPA transition team, according to two sources close to the campaign.
Myron Ebell, director of the Center for Energy and Environment at the conservative Competitive Enterprise Institute, is spearheading Trump’s transition plans for EPA, the sources said.
The Trump team has also lined up leaders for its Energy Department and Interior Department teams. Republican energy lobbyist Mike McKenna is heading the DOE team; former Interior Department solicitor David Bernhardt is leading the effort for that agency, according to sources close to the campaign.

2. Sadly, we knew this was likely.
What kind of resistance can we expect from the Democrats in DC on this?

3. There aren't enough of them to do anything meaningful.
All those who voted for Trump because they were mad at Hillary and who are in swing states, well, this is what you voted for.
Hillary was impossible, but Trump was worse.
I don’t know what we were supposed to do.
Might I make a suggestion?

7. if they have the media in their pocket, that is their only hope to raise alarms
as long as they haven’t lost the trust of the American people after so many months of lying and fake reporting about Her campaign’s inevitability and denying a voice to the Sander’s campaign
One of the reasons you are in the predicament you are in is BECAUSE the media is festering in the Dems back pocket. Fools.

36. Then you ought to now realize
that Hillary was corrupt, not impossible. There is a vast difference. Some of us apparently are ok with a little corruption as long as the candidate has a ‘D’ after their name and says the right things even though they will NEVER actually do the right things.

58. How do you feel about the Obama administration's Clean Power Plan?
It would have been a significant step toward reducing carbon dioxide emissions. The catch is that Obama, knowing he couldn’t get any sensible climate legislation through Congress, did it administratively. Trump can and certainly will direct his new EPA Administrator to scrap the whole thing.
You are free to say that the Democrats “haven’t been doing much to help with Climate change lately†and they certainly could have done more. Nevertheless, if they had the chance, I think most of the Democrats in Congress would vote against elimination of the Clean Power Plan. They won’t even have the chance. Furthermore, on various legislative initiatives (such as limits on EPA actions, baking the limits into the statute books so that a future Democratic administration can’t easily change them), the Democrats can vote Nay and be outvoted.

5. Will be interesting to watch, but Republicans want clean drinking water too
I know they are used to buying bottled and have no idea what tap water looks or tastes like in some sections of this country, but if Flint Michigan didn’t sound the alarm bells in everyone, R&D, nothing will.
With clean air, that may be a different story, and harder to point a specific finger at ‘industry’, so hopefully the right people who have the facts to present will convince Republicans they don’t want to poison their electorate so soon after they placed them in office.
Wait, which is it? Only the poor and stupid voted for Trump, or limousine Republicans? Both? Your comment contains a high degree of cognitive dissonance.

31. His original plan was to abolish the EPA. If climate change is a liberal hoax
(actually a joint venture between liberals and China in the eyes of too many conservatives), why not abolish the EPA? Trump wants to promote the use of oil and coal. The EPA would just get in the way of that.
The hope of some that Trump was a closet liberal just waiting to come out are quickly being dashed.

It's all part of Trump's Hitler-esque plan to destroy the world in four years. /sarcasm
It will be nice to have an administration that doesn't kneel at the altar of the global warming doomers.

A climate skeptic in charge of the EPA? Sounds good. De-weaponize it as well. All these agencies are way out of control.
Carl, your new avatar reminds me: People has a Trump cover as well and all the whiny crybabies are calling for a boycott. So, I call for a buycott.

This is one of the bright spots I saw with a Trump administration, and so far, it seems to be coming to fruition. I believe it will make a difference between his presidency being a successful one, or a joke.
Anyway, Trump is a businessman, not a politician. I expect Trump is going to put people into place that can get the job done, unlike Pols who put friends and financiers into positions of power as a debt of gratitude. - Especially Democratic Pols. (Repubs do it too, but to a lesser degree) If he follows through, he will be able to divest the job of governing into the hands of those most capable, where he as CEO President can coordinate the efforts into a unified product.

Maybe he does not want them making their own laws anymore?

Just as a refresher, who was in power when the EPA released that mine waste out into a river out west a few months back? Who was held accountable?

Trump should "test market" his picks using a focus group of Libs & Progs and a decibel meter. The louder and shriller the screams and wails, the better the choice.
