I don't feel welcome here

I've been around here for years and it just never stops. Virtually every foul Republican is referred to as "gay". It happens over and over. It's against the rules and the mods do try, but it never ends. Why?

They say that doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result is the definition of insanity so I don't know why I keep expecting it to change.

I don't know what to do, but I don't like how DU makes me feel.

It's a very big bonfire, as the primitives boast of their virtue.

1. I never call anyone gay

At least, not as an epithet.

If something is ****ed up I simply say ****ed up.

3. That's a new one on me

I've never seen any posts that referred to Republicans as gay, unless, of course, they were.

If you are uncomfortable coming to this site, I sure wouldn't blame you for ditching it.

Now, throughout the whole bonfire, some primitives challenge the allegation, demanding proof, and other primitives provide the proof, in links to other bonfires on Skins's island.  There's a lot of those, and way too many to copy-and-paste over here.

Before getting into this particular exchange, franksolich has to remind everyone that contrary to popular internet rumor, the cboy4 primitive, the primitive whom the grazing primitive (the rich kid "jgraz" primitive) mocks and derides, is NOT franksolich's mole on Skins's island.

What's wrong with you?

Would you say the same thing if African Americans were complaining about DUers using the N word too much?

You'd say, oh there, there....just click the X, it's really that simple.

Please.

114. OMFG. Yea, well it's very clear you're not a member of a minority group with your bullshit insensitive attitude.

Are you kidding me? If you don't feel welcome somewhere, you leave and don't go back?

If gay people don't feel welcome at school or at work or in their town ... they should just leave and not come back?

If a black person doesn't feel comfortable at a restaurant because they're not getting the same level of service as white people, they should just leave and don't go back.

Do you think the civil rights movement is based on running away?

No, it's based on confrontation and activism and certainly not running away.

You need to grow up.

And you might start that process by ditching some of your bigotry, since you actually think minorities complaining about being treated like shit is whining.

Why you sound exactly like a right wing fundamentalist christian republican. Don't you Ghost?

Don't you ever, and I mean *EVER* call me a republican or a christian again, do you understand me, boy? If you ever grew the cojones to say that to my face, I'd knock your ****ing teeth down the back of your throat, then crush your ****ing nuts just for fun. I'm not the nicest guy in the world, nor have I ever claimed to be... learn who you're lipping off to, boy.....

This is a *******ed message board on the ****ing internet, NOT a restaurant, school or anything else. If you don't like things being said, or you don't feel welcome, click the big ****ing "X" at the top right corner and be done with it. Period.

"No, it's based on confrontation and activism and certainly not running away."

I'd say you need to take it up with the administrators of this site, then... wouldn't you? You're pretty ****ing arrogant if you think the whole world needs to change just to accomodate YOU...

Get the **** over yourself, son... you're not that ****ing important in the whole scheme of life... or even on an anonymous internet message board. Neither am I, for that matter... we're ALL no more than just tiny grains of sand in a great big desert when it all boils down...

Do you think maybe *I* should whine and snot the next time someone posts something about "fat pasty white men"?

If you don't ever want to be offended in life, turn your ****ing computer off, crawl under your blankets and don't ever leave your house again, ok?

11. Yes, and I'm not alone in wincing when they're referred to as female body parts.

That tells me more about the juvenile nature of the poster, though, than it does about his target.

I try to have a thick skin. I've seen more than one discussion group destroyed by language police.

I do alert on things I find very offensive, maybe once a month. Most of the time I just realize I don't have a divine right to go through life unoffended and soldier on.

it's one we all share.

However, not being male, I don't tend to wince when a man is referred to as a male body part. I do wince when anyone of either sex is referred to as a female body part.

Perhaps it's all those millennia of patriarchs considering everything to do with women as soiled and obscene.

Sorry for pushing your button, but dammit you made it so easy! Seriously, you're not the first person to be offended or hurt by common figures of speech in use here-- for example, we've had extensive threads about language that's disrespectful of women and other groups.

My advice is to remember that unless you're the actual target of someone's disrespect, it helps to have a skin thick enough to protect your own blood pressure from unnecessary stress. Mostly it's not intended to be insulting, even when it inadvertently is.

109. You know how there are people who are socially challenged?

They don't know how to act out in public ... they say things that everyone else in the group wouldn't dare say?

They show up at dinner without bringing something like a bottle of wine, because the host said not to bring anything. When everyone knows you bring something anyway.

I think a lot of the offenders at DU are like this. It's not really malicious as much as their minds just don't get it.

How anyone can think gay people aren't horribly embarrassed to read about Democrats or Republicans getting busted for bathroom sex is beyond me.

And yet they seem to try to justify it with the hypocrisy excuse.

Oh, look at the hypocritical Republicans.

Apparently pointing out something that is out of the hands of all of us as Democrats is more important than the feelings of gay DUers.

It's quite sad.
