We were just heading home this afternoon when the guy with me said he thought he'd saw an eagle. We were on a rural paved road with no traffic so I turned around and eased back to where he had saw it. It was still there sitting in a large pine tree. Then, just as it began to fly away, we saw three more take off from pines on the opposite side of the road. They were huge but had not gone "bald" yet.
This makes six that I've seen in various places (miles apart) in the last 2 months. We used to go years without seeing an eagle around here.

They can grow bigger than what one imagines they will.

True. My wife, who claims that I get to see all of the cool stuff, was with me a couple of weeks ago when we saw a huge adult. I've tried to explain to her that seeing eagles is cool but a lot of the things we get to see are far from cool.

About a year or so ago, I was about three miles from my house headed up a road, by another town's reservoir in my town. At the top of one of the trees along the reservoir, was a fully mature bald eagle. Just hanging out on the tree, seeing what it could see . . . and it was in a great vantage point. Nice to see, just a stone's throw from where I live.
