Put in my $.02.  Sounds like a poser to me, also someone who has no idea how well the military pays these days or how selective they are in recruiting nowadays.  Rubbing their evil hands together and pulling in nets of destitute unemployables is hardly the way things work.  Due to the relatively high pay and benefits package and the historically-small force structure we currently have, it's actually moderately tough to even get in if you're just Joe Scho, and you better damn' well have at least a high school diploma and not just a GED.

DAT, now they expect senior NCO's to have degrees. Out of the last board proceedings for E8, 21 percent had some form of college , and a degree is expected for a SGM now.  This oxygen-thief has no clue what he is talking about.

I seem to remember that being the case when I was in, 26-29 years ago.

It wasn't a requirement then, I don't believe, but it was ..............highly recommended.  I remember those in that strata talking about it.
