I quit drinking a month ago.
I feel great, I've lost weight, and I've saved some money. Unfortunately for the liquor store I used to frequent, they have gone out of business due to lack of sales. They say every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
Seriously, I had been a heavy drinker earlier in my life. Over the years, my drinking has just naturally dwindled to where I was drinking about a six pack a week on average- usually on one of my off days. I've been getting into Eastern philosophy here lately and it occurred to me that I want to do things that make me more conscious and more aware. Alcohol has the opposite effect.
I quit smoking in a similar fashion over four years ago. It was harder to quit smoking than drinking, but it wasn't as hard as the previous times that I had tried to quit. I guess I just felt like I was done with it and it made it easier to let it go.

3. As you did, in the same fashion...but I was older in my early 50's.
And what I can tell you is...that you are never going to regret these choices.
It really worked out well for me physically, emotionally and financially.
And the financially is huge in my older years.
I, always, support legislation that makes cigarettes more expensive.
I want teens and young adults to find a cigarette and it's ilk to be
so expensive that they will put them in a category like
caviar.
Anyway...BRAVO...you are taking care of the business of life in the best way.

Wait until we start coming for your burgers, you fool.

6. Thanks, Tikki.
There was a time in my life where I didn't think I could go on living without beer and cigarettes. Now I see that I can't go on living WITH them. That stuff was starting to kill me.
You'd think with as many epiphanies as this guy has, he'd long have been on the path of good, wholesome living. But, here he is, possibly jobless, and at the DUmp.

7. I am glad to hear it, my dear Tobin!
The positive aspects of this action are what make it really worth it!
I have some wine usually twice a year: my birthday and wedding anniversary. I enjoy a glass and feel the little high I get, and that's it.
I'm really glad for you!
Calpig pickles herself twice a year to keep the wrinkles at bay.

I, would love to watch you gang raped by 30 immigrants then, left for dead.

Good luck to Tobin, but he's just being silly about this "eastern philosophy" bit.
"Eastern philosophy" is so alien to the western character (those in the west not of eastern derivation) that it's rare a westerner can really understand it. I give you the examples of the bitter old Vermontese cali primitive and Atman, shitheads both.
Far better that Tobin seek understanding and solace in those "philosophies" that sustained and flourished his own people throughout the ages.

Is it probable that tubby lost his last job (if his saga is even half true to begin with) because he was intoxicated on the job while holding a CDL?

Isn't that one of those 'regressive taxes' you dolts keep yammering about ? - I'm a nonsmoker, and I don't like the habit at all, but you know what I like less ? unnecessary taxes. - and this particular tax impacts those who make the least money the most. So, why is this 'regressive tax' okay ?

It's the same logic as "bigotry is bad, but only until the right people (my side) are being bigots"

Trying to envision Tubbs in the lotus position.
Sorry, some things are just impossible.

Oh for God's sake. Live a little, why don't you. Of course, they have to out-pious each other on a thread like this. What a crashing bore.

That's the one addiction he should kick that would probably do him the most good, but...well...he's a DUmmy. :loser:

Many wiser heads here have noticed that once a person leaves the DUmp, their soul heals.
It'd be a wise choice for someone like Tobin, who already has an inferior mental capacity than the average person.

Depending on bottle size and alcohol content, that 6-pack a week he's forgoing could be 1000 fewer calories a week he's ingesting. And if he was snacking while drinking, maybe an even greater reduction.

Tobin's idea of 'taking up Eastern philosophy' is masturbating to Sailor Moon cartoons.

Nothing worse than an ex smoker. These idiots don't realize that the smokers $$$$ are about tapped out and now they are coming for the lard asses.
Serves them right.

Because their beloved government has waged a war on smokers and for a change they are winning. Wanna blow their minds? Ask a raise taxes on the rich liberal dummies why taxing cigs results in a behavior that results in lower use/revenue and why taxing higher incomes doesn't?
