DEVELOPING: At least 25 people were injured after an explosion in Manhattan Saturday night, emergency workers confirmed to Fox News as police evacuated the area.

The blast was heard on West 23rd Street between 6th and 7th Avenues in the city's Chelsea neighborhood. Police counterterrorism officers, a bomb squad and firefighters rushed to the scene. Sources tell Fox News investigators have not ruled out terrorism as a possible factor but that it was too early to determine the exact cause.

Terrorism?

Combined with the bombing attack on the Marine Corps 5k run in New Jersey Saturday morning, where a recent Syrian 'refugee' is a "person of interest," . . . And HilLIARy wants to bring a million more Syrian 'refugees' into the US in her first term

The mall stabber was shot and killed (http://www.sctimes.com/story/news/local/2016/09/17/reports-several-hurt-crossroads-center-incident/90607870/) by an off-duty police officer. The article says that five of those stabbed have been released from the hospital; I think the embedded video updated that to 7 having been released; none had life-threatening injuries. St. Cloud is 40 or 50 miles NW of central Minneapolis-St. Paul, and maybe 20 miles from the edge of the M-St. P metro area. IIRC M-St. P has a sizable Somali community, though I haven't seen anything about the identity of the stabber ... could be an Eskimo for all I know.

ETA: It's been some 11 hours since the stabbings, and the name of the attacker hasn't yet been released. That often means there's something PC about the perp that makes officials reluctant to release the perp's name.

Police: 8 Stabbed, Suspect Dead In St. Cloud Mall Incident

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A St. Cloud mall was on lockdown for several hours Saturday night after a suspect stabbed eight people, according to police.

It happened just after 8 p.m. There were eight victims with stab wounds, police said. Seven were treated and released and one remains in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Police said the suspect, dressed in a private security uniform, made a reference to Allah and asked one victim if they were Muslim.

Probably a Somali as there are many in that area.

From Officer, suspect ID'd in Crossroads stabbings (http://www.sctimes.com/story/news/local/2016/09/17/reports-several-hurt-crossroads-center-incident/90607870/)

... St. Cloud Somali-American community members identified the deceased suspect as Dahir Adan.

Leaders of the Somali-American community in St. Cloud gathered Sunday with his family and issued a statement of sympathy for the family and the nine victims of the attack.

Judging from the rest of the article, it looks possible that the guy was radicalized without family knowing it. Or maybe they did, but are keeping mum.

ETA: Rooting around the 'net a few minutes ago, nothing much has been released officially yet about either the NJ or NYC bombers.

‘There will be more’: Chilling 911 call after the Chelsea explosion
http://nypost.com/2016/09/18/there-will-be-more-chilling-911-call-after-the-chelsea-explosion/

A 911 caller warned of further explosions right after the blast that rocked Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood and injured 29 people, The Post has learned.

“I’m looking at the explosion down the block. There will be more,” the unidentified male said, claiming to be standing at 23rd Street and Seventh Avenue in the aftermath of the terrifying incident, according to law-enforcement sources Sunday.

Investigators believe the blast was the result of a home-made, pressure-cooker bomb similar to an unexploded device found later on 27th Street, sources said.

This is terrorism, likely a self-radicalized one like in Orlando and Nice.

Police declined to release the name of the suspect, but community members have identified him as Dahir Adan, a junior at St. Cloud State University who worked as a security guard part time.

Leaders of the Somali-American community in St. Cloud said Adan didn't have a history of violence, according to the St. Cloud Times.

Ahmad Khan Rahami’s Father Told Police in 2014 His Son Was a Terrorist, Officials Say

By MARC SANTORA, ADAM GOLDMAN and RUKMINI CALLIMACHI  SEPT. 20, 2016

Two years before Ahmad Khan Rahami went on a bombing rampage in New York and New Jersey, his father told the police that the son was a terrorist, prompting a review by federal agents, according to two senior law enforcement officials.

Separately on Tuesday, another official said that when Mr. Rahami was captured during a shootout with the police, he was carrying a notebook that contained writings sympathetic to jihadist causes.

In one section of the book, which was pierced by a bullethole and covered in blood, Mr. Rahami wrote of “killing the kuffar,” or unbeliever, according to the official, who agreed to speak about the investigation only on the condition of anonymity.

After Mr. Rahami was captured on Monday morning, ending one of the largest manhunts in the city’s history, investigators have turned their focus to what might have motivated, inspired or led him to plant bombs in the Chelsea section of Manhattan and on the Jersey Shore.

Officials are also looking at whether he had any assistance in building the bombs or if anyone knew what he was doing and failed to report it.

I saw a blurb on FNC that Rahami "was known to authorities."  What a monumental ****-up this is becoming . . .
