Oh my.

Everybody I'm sure remembers the zigzag primitive, the big-busted hippie woman who got married in a dirndl; she's the one who's aged considerably the past 40 years, and with the really weird husband.

It was a dark and stormy night. Then the lights went out and the wind started.

I had begun a message Thursday night with the first sentence above as the thread title. Then the lights went out.

Hermine was still off the coast but one of the rain bands came through the area. By 3 AM around 100,000 households had lost power. Although our electric coop is working hard, we still don't have power which means no water. I'm flushing the toilet with water I ran into a big muck bucket. Five scoops of water per flush, which happens only when stinky or full of solids.

This morning I went looking for caffeine. I bought caffeine tablets yesterday but they are not satisfying. Yesterday few stores and no restaurants were open, today more are but every place with coffee had huge lines.

The house was liveable until it got sunny today, stayed under 80 until then and my little ryobi fan was great. The first battery lasted almost 24 hours. I thought about finding a hotel room but there are none. Most of the hotels in town have no power either!

Yesterday my friend was told it could be two days to two weeks before she got power. She was at Lowes and bought the last generator off the truck. This morning her power was restored. Without asking, her husband brought the generator over, hooked it my fridge, put a window A/C in, and got my WiFi and TV connected! They might be Republicans, but they are great friends.

All for now. Writing on a tablet is hard and I haven't gotten much sleep.

1. Sleep well, dear csziggy!

We'll be here when you wake up, hopefully feeling much better!

DUmmie definition of a perfect world.  Set on your fat ass and wait for your "Republican" friends to come to you and put your world back together.  Next week, after her power is back on, she will be calling for the purges again.

I just can't stand these maggots.

You stare at reality but refuse to see it.

I hope you suffer.

I thought it was one of the writers from Seinfeld until I got past the first sentence.

From Seinfeld - "The sea was angry that day, my friends, like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli."

Being an aging hippy, maybe a descendant of Edward Bulwer-Lytton. The exact provenance aside, my first thought on seeing that sentence was the same as yours. It might have bee designedly intended to be humorous, but I don't know how many DU-folk have that much wit.

Don't think about that, too much, or you may start to convulse.

Just curious if you would know... I see these links on occasion that people reference, context usually points to older posts but I can never access them like the link is broken or they are locked or something. Is it me or is something broken?

Just as on Skins's island or Manny's jackass message board, there's some forums with restricted access.

We have a few of those closed forums here.

Depending upon which closed forum it is, one has to get 50 or 100 or 1000 posts before one can get in.

Keep plugging away, commenting; you'll get to a thousand before you even know it.
