I wish nadin would come back.
I don’t always like her delivery but I miss her.

1. Why did she leave?
Deadpool (1238 posts) (Reply to Samantha - post #1) August 26, 2016 at 10:08 pm
2. …
Perhaps @nadin will answer that.

5. +1, why has she not posted in so long?
Was she confronted and attacked here?
I have thought she was just busy with all going on in CA, hoping anyway.

7. She wasn't attacked; she was disagreed with.
mick063 (563 posts) (Reply to PennLawyer - post #7) August 27, 2016 at 6:33 am
10. This
I am one of those that disagreed.
I’ll add that I hope this thread does not discourage folks from participation. I do not see any personal attacks, but the thread could easily evolve that way.
I believe the moderators and admin have done a great job of discerning legitimate dissent or alternate opinion from outright trolling. I have admittedly skirted the edge at times and the moderators have correctly gleaned my intent.
There needs to be an element of tolerance, not just from the moderators, but all members as well. Regardless, when a position is taken, one should be prepared to back up their position with respectful debate. When the majority of responses do not align with your opinion, it should not be taken as a personal attack. Further, a consensus view is not necessarily the correct view. If you believe you are right, stick to your guns and provide sound argument why.

14. More nuanced is that she correctly pointed out some hateful trolling
That even the Admins cottoned onto and removed unfortunately too late for some like cali, nadin etc.
All of them were always ready to give as good as they got imo. None of them are shy @ their views lol.
But there was undeniably an element here who were trolling. Writing styles and personas too easily identified as the most rank DUers determined to get JPR labelled a hate site.
I know for a fact that for both cali and nadin (and others I’ve been in contact with), it was the “hate†that drove them away.
Abakan (736 posts) (Reply to Rider - post #14) August 27, 2016 at 11:29 am
15. In my opinion
They manufactured much of that hate. It has been a much less contentious
place since their departure. I say this as a member not a mod.

19. Wow. Ok. I disagree but whatever.

20. Cali's been flagged for review Over There.
She apparently traded too many insults w/some of the favorites. I agree with some of her positions – not all of them – but the level of debate in which she engages in (over there) is of the level of “You’re full of bullshit.†“No, you’re full of bullshit.†Well you’re full of bullshit AND codswallop.†We’re talking toxic theads with 136 insult posts.
Yes, a few new posters on JPR have initially addressed snark-flavored comments at other JPR-ers, but on the whole they were quickly, yet politely called out to drop the snark and debate like adults.
The atmosphere on JPR is light years better and healthier without foul-mouths, thin skins and over-the-top-drama — notwithstanding the sad state of this presidential campaign, and our shared concerns for the future of this country we love. Our future is frightening, for sure, but I find JPR an oasis of knowledgeable and civil discourse and sharing of relevant information. The mods have done a fine job of keeping “hateful trolling†out of here. I haven’t actually come across any myself.

3. this one time, at banned camp
we all sat around the campfire and sang the pay attention to me song

6. occasionally she shows up over at the timeline Facebook group
PennLawyer (463 posts) (Reply to grasswire - post #6) August 27, 2016 at 5:10 am
9. She's still around – "active 11 hours ago"
She never actually left – although that is what she said she was doing. I disagree with her that JPR has been infiltrated by practitioners of Psy Ops. And I don’t miss her long lectures on what one should not be allowed to comment on in regard to Hillary Clinton. I think that is up to the Moderators. Here’s what she said:
And I no longer stay where I am not wanted. Not being dramatic, just being factual.
Good night.
Oh and this is not a GBCW post, nobody is committing suicide, none is dying. It is just what it is. I am still going to be around on the web, just not here.

13. I like her, too
I find her take on things very interesting.
I always give a little leeway when English is a second language.
It seemed like tag team abuse of her on the site which shall remain unnamed. Being previously trolled so relentlessly may have lowered her tolerance towards dissent? Just a guess.
Come on back, Nadin, we’ll play nice.
Abakan (736 posts) (Reply to libodem - post #13) August 27, 2016 at 11:48 am
16. We played nice while she was here
She sees things I didn’t see and still don’t see. What I know, though,
is a much less hostile place now that she’s gone. Snark is not the language
of the day. I like that very much, do you prefer a more combative board?
libodem (457 posts) (Reply to Abakan - post #16) August 27, 2016 at 12:04 pm
17. Heck no
I prefer cooperative and friendly over combative and snarky.
I have seen people really go after her so I feel like she’s the underdog .
I’m an underdog, kinda gal. I haven’t had a personal run in with her. That may be the difference.
Abakan (736 posts) (Reply to libodem - post #17) August 27, 2016 at 12:16 pm
18. The board has a different feel when
one or both of them are here.
Whether they bring it to themselves or foment their own trouble, I don’t know.
I don’t care, either, I know trouble is here more when they are here than when they’re not.
libodem (457 posts) (Reply to Abakan - post #18) August 27, 2016 at 12:29 pm
22. Hmmmm
Thank you for so respectfully representing your POV.
I had not noticed she brought some hubris on herself.* I have felt so much more free and happy here I figured we were all getting along. I didn’t realize there had been conflict.
It takes two to tango so no one is completely innocent. Underdog or not.

23. I avoided commenting in either of their OPs.
There’s history that goes back for years which has traveled to and from more than one message board.
Some bring their victimization upon themselves and there is a definite pattern to it.
Knowing this, I just opted to stay clear of it.

24. I do too COME BACK NADIN !!!!!!!!!!!
like many of us she is a troll hunter and that can get in our way sometimes .
I had not noticed she brought some hubris on herself.

This is why independent media is rare. Because quite frankly it is not sustainable. At least it is not sustainable if you do not reach out to your wallet and help out. We make it easy. There is a donate button on the side. We promise to continue to work hard, and trust me…we pull long hours.
Quite brutally honest, we are going bankrupt.
