1. Tomatoes and cukes with mint. All 3 from my garden.
Bread---stale leftovers that I will toast and use as croutons.
Chickpea curry that I will have at room temp.
Dessert? I'm feeling a bit fruited out.....I think I will have some Goya Maria cookies spread with lemon curd.
Tomorrow I go to the cheap veggie place. Once a month I take my soup crockpot and dump cheap veggies and near expired cans, and, see what I come up with. I have some rotel, some beans, some hominy that need to be used.....think I might look for some sweet potato and peppers and onions and make a vegan chili.

Peanut Butter Soup
Had some dental work done today and needed a soft diet tonight.
Miz t. made PBS, Peanut Butter Soup.
Sautéed onions, chicken broth and lots of PB.
Macerated in the food processor.
Yum!

I'm a potential addict. I love cheese, particularly soft stinky cheeses. Last week, in a moment of weakness, I purchased a quarter pound of Moses Sleeper and the same amounts of Oma and Willoughby.
I ate nearly all of it, and most of a baguette and a bunch of grapes in one sitting.
Why oh why, do I have to live down the road from the best artisan cheese makers in the country, who age and cellar other great cheeses?
After which a description of various VT cheeses, with pretentious "sensory notes" and "pairings and service" stuff.

My friend's very, very dumb dog got into the trash bin one day. That looks like what it yakked up later.

Just seeing that revolting image a couple days ago inspired me to have a bowl of Hormel Chili for dinner. Not the best chili around, but decent enough, and miles better than what "Vegan chili" crap would be like.
btw, in talking about this chili, you guys seem to be forgetting something: Liberals are defined by their self- righteousness, including in terms of what they eat. The fact that it tastes like crap doesn't matter to them. Even health/ if a food is necessarily good for them doesn't really matter to them, hence their love of Chipotle even after its horribly unsanitary standards, health code violations, and e. coli outbreaks were exposed. All that matters to them is if, by eating it, they can feel smug and enlightened and better than everyone else. Vegan crap food like that culinary abomination you showed the picture of is the ultimate manifestation of this.

Herring in aspic versus herring in Gelee
Does anyone know what the difference is? I couldn't find herring in gelee on line, but I did find it in aspic, and ordered some cans.
I know that the gelee is sour, and that is what I am hoping for.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Squash, Pear and Parsnip Soup with Ginger. I got the recipe out of my Soup Sisters cookbook. It has a whole 1/4 cup of ginger in it!
That sounds gross, and she made a ton of it. They'll be choking that down for weeks. I went to google images for that, and found this.

Just the ingredients make that concoction sound awful, an ingredient too many ... the large amount of ginger. That picture looks all the more unappetizing, not to mention pretentious; I suppose, however, that mixing in that dark swirled ingredient might make it look like a bowlful of diarrhea.

3. Chicken chili
Tasty and a nice change from "regular" chili:
Stir together in crock pot:
1 can diced tomatoes (with juice)
1 small can plain tomato sauce
1 can kidney beans, drained
1 can black beans, drained
1 can corn, drained
1 small jar salsa
1 packet taco seasoning mix
1 small onion, chopped
Submerge .5 to 1 lb. boneless chicken breast in this. Cook on low 8 - 10 hrs. Remove chicken, shred meat, stir back in.
That ain't chili.

Cooking chicken in a crock pot for 8-10 hours?! That's about double what should be right for chicken. And those canned beans (already cooked in the canning process!) will be almost liquefied. And between the canned ingredients and the "taco mix" that will be waaaaaay salty!

Think of what a pain in the ass tearing that whole chicken apart to add back in would be. Toooo tedious, unpleasant, and time-consuming. Just make it right and regular with beef, the way God intended.

Now, admittedly I'm no gourmand, no expert on cuisine.
And I don't even like chili.
However.
It seems to me that real chili would have to have ground beef; no chicken, no pork, no fish, no tofu, no soybeans, no kale, no peas, or other exotic primitive ingredients.
Ground beef.
It equally seems to me then that this stuff with chicken would be more appropriately called "chicken soup," not "chili."

1. meatloaf stew?
I made a meatloaf last week to use up some ground beef. It's sitting in the fridge. It's so dense that if you stick a fork in it you have to use 2 hands to extract it, like the sword in the stone. The plan is to saw it into chunks and cook it up with hot chilis, onions and tomato and hope for a decent result. We'll see.
