I've recently been locked up in the psych ward.

I'm out, new meds seem to be working, but I'm very uncertain. Who is this guy?

Rational Hunter always looks on while the rest of Hunter falls apart.

I'm very upset about social services in the U.S.A..

Maybe half the people in the psych ward wouldn't be there if this nation had decent social services. Decent social services would be less expensive too. Let's catch people before they crash and burn. A much stronger safety net.

Myself? Even with a carefully constructed support system, it's all ****ing chemical.

Now I can add some new anti-psychotics to my résumé.

Yep, same as ever, I'm a very dangerous fellow when I don't know what I'm doing.

2. I wouldn't look at your well being as just chemicals, Hunter.

What psych meds do is put the natural chemicals in your brain back into balance. When you feel well, that is who you really are without the symptoms of your illness. Believe it, Hunter. That's the real you.

Actually, what psychotic meds do is put chemicals the physician assumes are needed to bring the brain back into "balance."

And many times, doc assumes wrongly.  So best to not deal with them, period, instead letting things run their natural course without chemical interference.

3. Hello hunter,

To begin with please let me offer my sympathy since I've been in your shoes being under psychiatric observation. I was diagnosed with major depression and the diagnosis was revised to bipolar disorder. It can take weeks before any medication to take full effect so be diligent about following your doctor's orders taking those pills--and yes, I had the same feelings about whether the pills would make a difference.

I also agree with you that the social services are abysmal. I still retained my analytical abilities and knew something was wrong with me and asked for help, but often found that the help was lacking or that I would have to jump through hoops and deal with frustration along the way.

I don't know where you stand financially or your age, but if your issues result in difficulties at work, holding employment or finding employment then you should consider filing for Social Security disability income. I also suggest getting an attorney that specializes in that field early in the process so that you have an advocate on your side. They work on a contingency basis (usually 25%), but they have the expertise that you will need for your claim.

It is difficult to get claims approved for mental illness and you may initially denied during the initial review and reconsideration stages, but the appeal stage is where many claims are approved as the administrative law judges receive testimony from psychiatric, medical and vocational experts. If you have other medical issues that limit the type of work that you perform then they will also be considered as far as whether you are employable.

Depending on your situation you might also want to obtain food stamp (SNAP) benefits or getting reduced price medications through your mental health network or indigent care programs.

The short haul might be tough, but hopefully you can get stabilized, make rational decisions and feel more comfortable with what is occurring in your life. I'm usually around during the night time hours if you need to send a PM so please contact me.

The real hunter is the batshit crazy one. The medications merely suppress the worst of the manifestations.

Expert scammers, this folks is the Golden ring for these DUmmies.  It also goes a long way explaining why in God's name someone would even consider voting for cankles.

Not necessarily. Lots of people have been helped with meds. Depression is huge in the world and most of it is related to a chemical imbalance. It's tough living with wild mood changes.  I was on zoloft in hs and it was like a big dark curtain was lifted

my friend has always had depression (I didn't know because he hid it so well).  Well his dr changed his meds and one of the side effects was "may increase suicidal tendencies".  He was on his way to his dr to get the meds changed and for some reason he hung himself.  I'm still just blown away and so confused about it.  He had a great life.  Great job, beautiful wife, kids/grandkids, money...  Why are drugs with side effects of "may increase suicidal tendencies" even given to people with depression?

I kind of wonder if it alters the balance too much. I could see that causing somebody to go suicidal. I know the stuff I was on actually helped me do better in school, clearer thinking, focus, etc

The title could be talking about any number of DUmmies. My first thought was "what did UP do now?".

Anyone else think the title was referring to someone other than Hunter and if so, who?
