The strategy by the 2006 midterms was to rail against the now-unpopular war and regain a majority in the House. Sheehan met with members of Congress. She campaigned relentlessly. “Every Democrat I met with in 2005 said, ‘If you help us win the House, we’ll help you end the war,’ ” she recalled. Only one of those two things came true.

“Back when I was working with them after my son was killed, I was still a Democrat,” Sheehan said. “I still had some kind of illusion that they really cared about these issues the same way I did, but they really only cared about power.”

You have to skip the sludge in the first half of the article to get to the deliciously ironic gem I quoted.

Yeppers, Cindy, the D Party and their MSM shills used you, like a cheap ... and dumped you as soon as the 2006 Congressional elections were over. Countless conservatives predicted this! You dishonored your son for "15 minutes" of fame. Hope those "15 minutes" were good for you.

Brendan James obviously didn't have much to work with, since half his article was his version of the mid 2000s. And even that was pretty sloppy, For example, he represents the death of Casey as turning LaSheehan into an anti-war activist. Not quite! LaSheehan was protesting WJC's military actions in the mid-1990s by refusing to pay taxes (they risked losing their home by not paying their property taxes, a local tax).
