and lands on greatest page. From demtenjeep: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027997591
My youngest child and the last to get married got married last night security we hired
because we had alcohol, we had to pay for a security guard (off duty policeman)
We had him sign the guest book, included him in a couple of pictures, made him a huge plate off the taco bar and kept him full of water and soda.
In the end we had quite a bit extra of those pretty wedding sixlets in the wedding colors.
I took the extra to him and told him he could use them how ever he wanted. He thanked me and said he would probably take them back to the substation to share if that was alright.
the wedding was beautiful loving and fun.
The officer said it was the easiest 5 hours he had ever put in and thanked us for including him in those little ways. I don't know if it matters or not, but the officer was black and the entire wedding was white.
59 kudos so far for having a black friend
knowing a black person well enough to invite them to a wedding
hiring a black servant and allowing them to eat with the white folks and have some leftover candies to "use however they want."
-
And my daughter had two off-duty cops at her wedding. Both were black. One watched the interior (the reception) the other watched the parking lot.
It was all white but nobody, NOBODY cared what color the officers were. We laughed with them, joked and at the end of the night took up a "tip" collection for them. Nice guys, but no one bragged about it online.
It was simply human beings treating human beings with respect.
You know, the conservative way.
-
No DUmmy, it makes no matter that the Cop was black and everyone was white, but did you have the bride and groom rub the black officers head for good luck?
-
"Yay, I'm a tolerant liberal, look at me!!!!!!!"

The other day I took a cab. We chatted a bit and shared a laugh at a joke the guy on the radio told. I tipped him 15% (which is what I always tip taxi drivers).
Oh, he was black.
I am a Good Person.

So the white privileged racist dummie treated the black security hired help nicely. Woohoo! Here is your bozo button, racist.
Meanwhile the entire family stiffed the black bartender on tips. Probably snapped their fingers and yelled "I need a drink here, Saboo". It is just the way dummies roll.
-
Pam usually gets called out for these condescending "mistress of the plantation" posts. Nobody, DUmmies? That leftovers crap is nauseating as well, to use however he wants. Well ain't you grand. Her pointing out that it was an all-white wedding was offensive as hell. It's a gathering of friends, plain and simple, you racist.
Another DUmmie tried to one up her with a lesbo wedding tale. MY daughter is gay! Take that!

Security for a wedding? Is that really a thing? I've been at weddings with cops, never heard that they hired security for it.
-
So, doing what should be normal became ::) :bouncy: -worthy ::) because of the security guy's skin color? I could top it, easily, but why toot one's horn for doing what is normal?!
-
Meanwhile, on another board, someone is telling a beautiful and affecting story of being hired by someone with Down's.

Translation: "Some of my best friends are black."

fatboy and his better half were married in 1985 in Ocean Grove NJ. The ceremony was conducted by the then mayor of Neptune NJ, later to become a member of the Monmouth County Supreme Court, Judge Lawrence Lawson was the first AA Judge in the counties history. He refused any compensation.

New to me. Never been to one that hired "security".

Yes! That is EXACTLY how they all sound.
That is to say: **cking ridiculous.

True .... true.....
-
What a condescending bitch... And "the entire wedding was white"... So none of you, not you, your husband, or your spawn have ANY Black, Hispanic, or Asian friends... Or at the very least none that you deemed worthy to attend...
My how progressive of you... Racist!

It depends on location & time. Morons crash weddings often. One that I attended these jerks stole bottles of booze & eventually got tossed in Cook County jail.

Pam is by even DUmp standards a pathological liar.
She has never spoken of more then one child and even that is suspect.
She would be a good slave owner though.

In those two cities someone stealing booze from a wedding would be the least of their problems. :cheersmate:

That puzzled me too. Unless one lived in a pretty much all-white community and area, one would almost have to try not to have at least some black, Hispanic, Asian, etc. friends. In nearly 40 years in my career, I've never worked at an all-white workplace. As for churches, the one I grew up in was all-white ... it also switched from German to English in its services just 25 years before I was born (several Hispanics became members soon after I left for college, so I doubt that it's all-white now).
I do know that there are parts of the country where churches are basically all-white or all-black, but it's more by choice that due to racism - on either part.

I know, taco bar? At a wedding? Umm...Well at least she let the hired hand have a few crumbs!

Almost any venue requires security for a sizable group if alcohol is served (bar hosted or not). It is usually required by their insurance. In some cases the municipality will require it as well.
If you are a liberal, it is also required they be tokens.

So, they sent him home with ziplock bags of meat, lettuce, and beans, and some corn tortillas.
Their generosity brings a tear to my eye!

I carried a .45 at mine, under the tuxedo jacket. Left the handcuffs at home.
Several of my friends and co-workers were similarly armed.

After nadining the demographics for Wichita, KS, it pretty much falls in line with the national average. I can only speak for myself but if I got married, I could probably expect a similar turnout.
Everyone wants to see an impossible miracle.

Getting married is rough these days. Ouch.

Mini tacos?
DIY tacos.
I wonder if Jack In The Box caters. Their tacos are awesome.

It was 1986. I learned my lesson; I'll never do that again!
