Baltimore police union criticized for tweets after acquittal
Updated 1:46 pm, Saturday, June 25, 2016
BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore's police chief and City Council president are criticizing the city's police union for online posts that appeared to celebrate an officer's acquittal in the death of a 25-year-old black man.
A judge acquitted Officer Caesar Goodson of all charges Thursday. Goodson drove the van in which Freddie Gray's neck was broken. Goodson was one of six officers charged in Gray's 2015 death.
The Baltimore Sun (http://tinyurl.com/z6zee67 ) reports the police union sent a tweet Friday night with a photo of actor Leonardo DiCaprio making a toast, with text reading, "Here's to the Baltimore 6 defense team." Another tweet referred to State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby as "the wolf that lurks." The tweets have been deleted.
Police Chief Kevin Davis and Council president Jack Young called the tweets insensitive and inappropriate.

2. Break the God Damn, Mother F**cking police "unions" up.
They are nothing but mafia protection rackets for criminals.
I would remind you the Bridgeport CT police "union" endorsed Joe Ganim. Enough said!
Why does this primitive keep putting the word union in quotation marks?
The organization attempts to improve the working conditions of law enforcement officers and the safety of those they serve through education, legislation, information, community involvement, and employee representation.

That sounds like a genuine union to me.

3. Those particular racketeers have their defenders here on DU, though.
Improbably -- or now, perhaps, probably -- enough.
Dawson Leery needed reminding that democrat underground doesn't just advocate for Mexican fence jumpers, Muslim savages, and guys who want to use the women's can--they are for the working man too, just not as high up on the list.

Isn't Judi Lynn a gummint employee? I wonder if she belongs to a union.

Now that is flipping hilarious...

4. Police in this country are above the law.
They know it, they revel in it.
Oh, really........ ::)

H-5 earned by that thread title, and duly issued! Delicious irony!

Actually, the quoted Tweets are very appropriate, and the latter one quite accurate. Mosby demagogued her way into office, and went Nifong on police officers who simply did their jobs. She deserves Nifong's fate, but the wheels of that justice turn slowly, and are only just starting to try to turn. Sadly, she has in her power to afflict injustice on 3 more officers, and heap more injustice on the officer whose trial ended in a hung jury.

Hey Dawson! When thugs are shooting up your neighborhood or beating the @#$% out of you, be sure you call the ACLU. Chances are, they know the thugs quite well and might be able to persuade them to move on to another victim.

Like 98ZJ, my first reaction was, "Who?". Maybe I subconsciously sensed potential for amusement, but I Googled "Joe Ganim". Sure enough, I found the amusement in the early paragraphs of the article.
:ownit:
Somehow I suspect DU-folk spoke rather differently of him when Joe Ganim was investigated for and convicted of corruption during GWB's Administration.

Agreed on the H5 for the thread title!!!
Apparently the police union is the only union they don't believe in.

They like certain unions that conform to their thinking.

If there were an accounting & finance union, they would despise that as well.

From the google search page referencing wikipedia.
Joseph Peter Ganim is an American politician and mayor of Bridgeport, Connecticut. A Democrat, Ganim was elected mayor of the city five times, and served from 1991 to 2003, when he resigned after being convicted on federal felony corruption charges.

They are dummies. They like and dislike based on the emotional dump opinion of the moment. The current opinion is hate the cops... so by extension they hate anything associated with cops up to and including their union. :cheersmate:

Exactly. :cheersmate:

If you really insist on a guy in a tie doing all your negotiating for you, more power to ya. I wouldn't want a union personally, but if somebody insists, that's what right to work is for.
