Despite all the extravagant promises, promises, promises.....
Test site is closed. New site coming in a few hours. Sorry we're late

Uh oh. So where do the primitives go but to Skins again, while Manny's site is under repairs?
-
Sounds like that goofy much older offshoot, Democratic Warrior. Still get random emails from them from time to time.
-
I went over there at 1:00 a.m. central time, and this is what was there (I dunno when it was posted, though; it's just that it's there at 1:00 a.m.):
Test site is closed. We're very sorry but looks like a day delay. TWM tripped over all the money from Rove and broke the link. Seriously, having migration issues. So sorry

Still the same at 6AM PDT (6/25).
A day or two ago in another thread I was going to comment that at least JPR uses a decent forum SW that isn't a RYO dead end.

Well now, remember--these are Bernie bullies there, and Bernie bullies with no evidence whatsoever in the whole entire universe, think of themselves as smarter than we are.
If they're so smart, how come the new format isn't up and running?

SW like vBulletin offers lots of functionality and lots of administrative tools, but still requires a lot of tech know-how to set up and run. E.G., with a few simple naive set-up mistakes, a board could quickly be flooded with spamster members and spam threads and posts (CAPTCHA can screen out bots, but humans can write code that enables a bot to figure out a CAPTCHA image).

Well, here it is, 5:19 p.m. central time Saturday, and still no new jackass message board.
Manny's people are "still working on it."
And there's this:
Marym625 Today, 04:17 PM #1
If the email you used to register here isn't a good one....
You'll have to register again with a different user name at the new site with a good email address.
If you don't use the email address you used here, please send me a pm with a good one and we'll change it.
Everyone will have to do a password reset because we don't have passwords. That will go through your email address. Since the user names will be migrated with the email address, if you can't access that email, the user name will be a taken name.
Please pm me with an email address change asap
Thank you
Mary
Well, the smarter-than-you crowd just doesn't seem to be living up to its self-promotion.

So, the smarter than us all Jackals can't do a clean migration, but I managed to take the raw data from a broken via DDoS board, salvage damn near all of it, get it reinstalled, then migrate to the latest version of SMF.. Not bad for a knuckle draggin rethug..

I thought so too.

OK, this is just Puh-THEH-Tick!:
Manny here: sorry guys, I @#$%ed up. As you may know, we were supposed to transition to the new site last night but moving the registration info from this site to the new one proved to be a bit challenging. Both vBulletin (this site) and WordPress (the new one) have database structures designed by Louis Gohmert, it seems. I should have known that this would suck and left more time. Sorry! But the data's moving over now, it will take some hours. The new site is way cool, hopefully worth the wait... tomorrow or Monday, likely.
vBulletin is a great SW package, and I'm sure WordPress is as well. The location of their problem is elsewhere, between the ears of Manny or his pet technoid life form. So, JackPineRadishes,
:ownit:

H-5! And a Snicker-Giggle for hilarious accuracy.
Edited because the forum SW thought the portmanteau word that combines "snicker" and "giggle" is a form of the "N-word".

It's now 1:50 p.m. central time, and this might've been up for a while (no telling):
Just a couple hours from launch. Instructions will be posted soon
<<<breathlessly waiting.

I'm thinking they should've stuck over at Skin's Island, where although they have to live under his benevolent thumb, they at least have an island to hang around on.

I'll bet that's exactly what most of them are doing right now, even if they dare not advertise it.

They appear to be online. (http://jackpineradicals.com/)

Kinda like DUmmy Rockforbrains going away for a few days, who really cares in the grand scheme of things?
Sure, all these off-shoots can be comical like the DUmp.

But, it's in the dictionary!

Gag me! After using vBulletin's modern presentation they've leaped backward to a non-proprietary edition of DU's dinosaurian presentation!
-
I don't even know if it is worth the trouble of creating a mole over there, the whole thing might just fizzle out after November. :(

November? You're being generous! They'll be sporting their "I'm with her" bumper stickers by the end of july

I'm sure the owner chose this format specifically so he could exploit threaded message views. Doesn't matter that its a sad, dated format going back to the days of USENET.

I haven't been on Internet discussion boards that long, but that's the format that I commonly saw in 1997 and 1998. When one board - CapitolHillBlue Reader Rant - got hacked to Valhalla, their new SW was Ultimate Bulletin Board, and I loved its usability! The formatting tags I learned on UBB are used by more than a few different modern discussion board SW packages.
