In the Old Testament, sure. But Very few Christians follow the letter of the OT as Canon. However, ISIS and many other Muslims continue to follow the words of the Pedophile MoHammed to the letter.
Then again, on DU anyone that dares to defend Christianity is beset upon by the Moloch Worshippers. The State and Planned Parenthood are the only things worthy or worship.

The Bible (Old Testament, particularly, though the NT records the beheading of John the Baptist) records all kinds of violent things - murders, rapes, etc., especially in the Book of Judges. That happens when you record history. But recording it is very different from approving it.
In the Qur'an, Muhammad rationalizes, approves, and commands violence against non-believers.
"matt819" would know all this, had he actually read the Bible and the Qur'an. But facts don't matter when he needs a moral equivalency.

The Old Testament's punishments of death for homosexuality where strictly for the purity of the Hebrew race. The Israelites weren't running around killing homosexuals just because they were homosexuals. Also the death penalty was the top end of the punishment scale. I believe that more often than not violators of the laws calling for death were exiled or they ran away on their own. Since Christ established the new Covenant repentance and forgiveness have been the norm. A homosexual is forgiven when he or she recognizes they are in a sinful state and seeks forgiveness, otherwise they can go on their merry way and live how ever they choose and should expect no abuse from Christians. With that said I am reminded of something I heard long ago, "We are not punished so much for our sins as we are by our sins."
