2. 38000 jobs is not a great number.
WF participation went down by 560k
Prior Mos revised downward by 60k
Which instantly is attacked as a smear.

With 38,000 new jobs added and only 25,000 real private sector jobs added the UE percentage goes down because they treat the 460,000 people that have given up, is the same as Obama's economic genius creating 500,000 jobs. You know like the idiot Bush did for many months.
New common core economics.

I read this morning it's more like 8.5%

Probably if you set labor force participation levels at 20 Jan 2009 levels with no population increase. I'm fairly confident the true number is double digits.

Show me someone who's making that claim and I'll show you a liar.
Show me someone who believes that claim and I'll show you someone who believes lies.

More like 10.5-11%.
Also the new Obama regime generated GDP used since end of 2010, show 1.5%ish growth but we never left recession.

I've tried the web address at the bottom, it doesn't exist. USDJOB.GOV? Department of Workforce?
Might be bogus, even though the figures are correct.

I'd like to see the baseline from 2007 instead of 2008. Now that year this country damn near had full employment. Bush was just unfortunate to have been president when the bottom dropped out.

Jobs Growth Slows Dramatically In May

The Labor Department says in May, employers added just 38,000 workers to payrolls. Economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had forecast the report would show 158,000 new jobs. The unemployment rate fell to 4.7 percent, but only because so many people dropped out of the workforce. Forecasters had expected the unemployment rate to hold steady at 5 percent.

According to your garden variety DUmmy, NPR is extremely right wing.

38K new jobs is lost ground. The new jobs number I've heard for just keeping pace with young people coming into (or who should be coming into) the job market is on the order of 200K-300K! IOW, 38K is less than 1/5 the number needed just to "mark time".

54. Still better than when Bush was in charge
MUCH better. My purpose is to demonstrate that President Obama has been a VAST improvement over the previous President. What is yours?
Some over there are spinning that the low participation rate is due to all the retirees, picturing happy old folks sipping cocktails on vacation beaches. The average 401K these days is about $24K. Nobody can retire anymore.
38,000 is disgraceful. This should have been a time of ramping up for the summer season.

So, to play one of the regime's favorite games, including "seasonally adjusted" jobs probably was a net loss.

Well, obviously early Baby-Boomers have entered their retirement years, and some have. But attributing the plunge in labor market participation to retiring Boomers is like a squid squirting ink, a diversion to obscure reality.

Low new job number was due to bad weather or something, stop being such a Debbie downer.

Has it been blamed, yet, on Obama-hating business people and Trump supporters? Or am I ahead of Prog Trump-loathers in anticipating such "reasoning"?
