McCain defends charge that Obama playing race card
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. John McCain defended his campaign Thursday for saying that Sen. Barack Obama is playing the race card.
McCain's campaign manager charged that Obama falsely accused the McCain campaign of injecting race into the presidential contest.
Asked by CNN's John King whether that was fair criticism, McCain said it was.
"I'm sorry to say that it is. It's legitimate. And there's no place in this campaign for that. There's no place for it, and we shouldn't be doing it," he said in Racine, Wisconsin.
The Obama campaign has denied the accusation, but McCain said, "I'll let the American people judge."

It was a matter of time before it happened, but I'm glad McCain didn't let this oppurtinity pass. If CNN picked up on it, then that means the word is getting out.
For those who didn't see the comment.
"Nobody really thinks that Bush or McCain have a real answer for the challenges we face," Obama said Wednesday in Springfield, Missouri. "So what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me. You know, he's not patriotic enough. He's got a funny name. You know, he doesn't look like all those other presidents on those dollar bills, you know. He's risky."

BHO has been doing this with increasing frequency (I believe he did it in Berlin as well).
Its funny how only BHO and his crew ever make an issue out of his racial background. They know its the lion's share of what they've got.
-
"Ah don't care what nobody say! You a raciss if ya'll don't vote fo a nigguh!"
That is all. :-)
-
this looks like something the mccain people have been waiting to happen. The BarackStar!'s "dollar bill" comment was intended to suggest, ever so indirectly, that not voting for him was implicitly racist. and the mccain campign smashed it flatter and colder than paint on the icehouse floor. it was so effective, that I doubt that The BarackStar! will try to go there again. ever.

I'm not sure about that....he does not have many cards to play besides "race"........he will get 95% of the black vote anyway (any Democrat would, so there is no real gain there)........telling us that we are racist if we don't vote for him is his only appeal to those in the "mushy middle"......the rest of us wouldn't vote for him at gunpoint......

whatever cards he has, none of them could blow back on him as badly as this one has. even some of his worshippers in the MSM have meekly observed that the only meaning he could have intended by the dollar bill remark was some covert racial message.

Why yes, yes he did...
I know that I don't look like the Americans who've previously spoken in this great city. The journey that led me here is improbable. My mother was born in the heartland of America, but my father grew up herding goats in Kenya. His father -- my grandfather -- was a cook, a domestic servant to the British.
Not a peep out of the MSM about that comment, though. Surprise, surprise.
With every passing day, I'm more convinced that this man is going to be our next President. He has some uncanny ability to hypnotize the masses into believing his rhetoric and hypcricy, and I'm very sad to say I think it will get him into the WH.
-
Race, glam factor, and a ride on the giveaway train for everyone of color or in the lower half of income spectrum are the assets he has. Race is the big one, and the MSM hasn't had the guts to call him on the fact he is trying to both use it as a weapon and hide behind it at the same time.

I think it was Newt on Hannity and Colmes last night who said how arrogant that quote actually is. He's forgetting Secretaries of State Rice and Powell in that comment.

Now today, Barack Hussein Obama's campaign manager reversed position and said the faux messiah WAS actually talking about race with his complaint that McCain was going to say he didn't look like Washington or Lincoln.
I'm very glad that Juan is answering all this crap - there's no reason he has to put up with the race-baiting and whining by Barack Hussein Obama.
BTW, this new McCain ad, "Praise the One", is great:

He needs to go highly negative on BHO early (just like this), because the MSM sure won't.

Yes, it is time for McCain to stomp this pissant.

Oops. ABC got the story, too...
Obama Aide Concedes 'Dollar Bill' Remark Referred to His Race (http://www.abcnews.go.com/GMA/Politics/story?id=5495348&page=1)Sen. Barack Obama's chief strategist conceded that the Democratic presidential candidate was referring to his race when he said Republicans were trying to scare voters by suggesting Obama "doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."
