18. I want to say that this OP is a prime example of bullying.
The jury thinks that we can handle it out here and so I will. Comments like this are hateful and not helpful. Your comment can cause a person with body issues to back slide. The damage you do will be unseen and un felt by you because bullies never feel it. Suffice it to say that the system is taking care of the problem and you and your perfect self do not need to worry. If you are overweight your insurance company will be contacting you to encourage you to talk to a stranger on the phone about your issues. You will love it because like this place you will be hidden and faceless and can say whatever you please.
I would like to add that you started this to get a reaction and a fight. You need a friend, you need someone to love you and you have no idea how to make it happen. Why don't you start there on your improvement list instead of hurting others.

Why should I pay for the health care of people who eat 5,000 to 10,000 calories a day and wouldn't even consider exercising?

8. Because obesity is not a choice and because our food system is set up
so that a lot of the foods that cheaply feed a family aren't always the best nutritional choices. This was brought home sharply to me the other day when I bought basil in an organic grocery store that was $10 a bag. I decided to buy it anyway, but when I left the store I did give a thought to people who only had $10 a week for groceries total and what they could buy with it if they had a couple of kids. Paying that much for organic basic has basically haunted me for a whole week.
I was reading an article about the "Biggest Loser" (a fat-shaming show if there ever was one), and how the people cannot keep the weight off because at some point their own bodies turn against them. They're exercising like crazy, eating under 1000 calories per day, and still gaining weight back.
Obesity is a very complicated issue (as are other things that pose chronic health problems) and I for one don't want to play judge and jury to the people suffering from it.

Bullshit. frozen vegetables are very cheap. Certain cuts of beef and chicken are still relatively cheap. People are lazy and opt for the prepared foods over having to cook.

New york roast - 4.99 a pound (Cut your own NY strips from them)
Chuck steak - 2.99 a pound.
80/20 pre-pattied beef 1.99 a pound.
Pork tenderloin - 2.99 a pound.
Pork chops - bone in or boneless, 1.99 a pound.
Pork country ribs - .99 a pound.
Bulk bacon - 10 pounds for 14.90
Spiral sliced hams, .99 a pound.

I agree, and have said that for years and years.
Governmentally-operated grocery stores for food stamps only.....and the only stores, period, where one can use food stamps. Wal-Mart and Hy-Vee and every other grocery giant might squawk because they probably make big bucks off of food stamps, but the times demand harsh measures to cut out waste and corruption. So tough shit to the businesses that make money off food stamps.
One might whine and complain that there wouldn't be nearly the number of such food stamp stores, as there are grocery stores and convenience stores, but where is it written that there has to be a retail food outlet on every corner? One doesn't see shoe stores or clothing stores or drug stores on every corner either.
Getting the necessities of life necessarily entails some time and trouble.

The advertising circular in it gives one a glimpse of life in everyday Nebraska outside of Omaha and Lincoln.
I dunno how the prices compare with stores in blue cities and blue states, though, because being only one person, paying much attention to prices isn't imperative. I just decide what I want to get, and get it, regardless of the cost. So I dunno; are we cheaper or more expensive than corrupt congested blue areas?

You wouldn't even need a dedicated government store. Want to use your food stamps? Fine, there is a dedicated section of the store that keeps the product permissible under the plan. Govt. Cheese, cheap bread, fruits and vegetables that keep for a longer time. If the card doesn't match the name on the drivers license, no soup for you!

I think you hit upon the heart of the matter. Under liberal policies, eventually the gov't dictates what its citizens can and cannot purchase, what jobs they must hold, where they can travel (if at all), and even the very words that are acceptable. The libs would like ALL retail to be gov't retail, all industry to be gov't industry, etc... They won't admit it, but it is their end goal. The type of people we see on Skin's island and DKos and others are just the idiots the Dem leaders can use to eventually reach their goal.

I'm pretty sure we are MUCH cheaper, at least on meat. I have relatives in MN and WI, and they're paying 12+ a pound for prime rib, and 4-5 bucks a pound for bacon (a tragedy). They also get dinged for 8+ bucks a pound for ny strip and 10+ for ribeye.
I think it is, at least in part, because we are just closer to the source in a lot of ways that effect prices.
